Exactly my point as well. Simply put, the 300 looks ugly because of its abruptly cut back end and falls short in its luggage capacity.

Maintain a suitable price difference with the Scorpio N and launch the 400 in ICE format, that is what Mahindra should do next.

Re: New Mahindra Compact SUV spotted | XUV300 Facelift?

The XUV400 is a solid product ,let down by an AMT gearbox and poor boot space. While Mahindra will surely revamp up the interiors, i’m curious to see if they actually bring on a decent automatic considering the next gen Nexon is getting a DCA and other cars in the segment ( Venue, Sonet ) already have DCT versions. Or if Mahindra thinks just a massive display and Sunroof would do, then it may not help the XUV400 to gain any ground in this segment.

Re: New Mahindra Compact SUV spotted | XUV300 Facelift?

Mahindra needs to launch this updated facelift as XUV400 and pitch it against Creta in the hottest segment we have in our market today. Heck, they can even call it XUV500 !!

XUV 300 / 400 needs substantial upgrades to both interior and exterior for achieving this (not difficult for Mr Bose). Once they taste success, they can later launch sub-4m XUV300 with inspired family looks.

New design element are welcome step compared to current design. Hope the EV version will be able to provide us with alternative in market dominated by Nexon EV

I second that. It is a well built car, and in the Creta segment it can be launched with the TGDI engine which has decent power. It would be one of the safest too, along with the VAG cars.

Re: New Mahindra Compact SUV spotted | XUV300 Facelift?

About time! the XUV 300 is a wonderful package let down by dated interiors, miniscule boot space among others. I had expected the XUV 400 to launch with some design modifications (the tacky colours and badging don't count). A little late but very welcome move.

Re: New Mahindra Compact SUV spotted | XUV300 Facelift?

I hope they don't just remove the performance related from the current XUV300 like the tgdi engine, all disc brakes, extra 20nm torque boost while giving good to have features.

As a person looking to replace 1.3L Polo, this seems to be the best replacement in form of sub 4m rocket but let down by due to some outdated features.

Xuv500 should arrive as a product built from the ground up after nailing xuv300. We don't need another Citroën C3 aircross situation

In this image, the gear knob seems to be updated too, somehow feels like a typical auto gearbox. Because the older version had different push based implementation of AMT & gear knob was like a stick.

If Mahindra is bringing in the 6 speed AISIN option with facelift then its going to be a game changer. It'll tick all the boxes then - safety, true AT, features, newer face, super smooth engines, sunroof & quite feature loaded as well. Boot space up-gradation is going to be a difficult task though.

Who knows, Mahindra might have few aces up its sleeve - Ventilated seats & ADAS in the top variant. Suddenly XUV300 becomes like what XUV700 is in upper segment.. real all rounder !

Though it has that ugly tacked n tablet screen (IMHO) instead of the integrated to the dash one, this doesn't look like it is sticking much. And kudos to them to retain that volume knob!!!

Also doesn't the automatic transmission looks like a normal one? I mean it doesn't look like the AMT gearlever, but looks like one that has a 'P'.

Just verified in the XUV700 review, the new gearbox looks pretty much like the one in XUV700, very high probability that xuv300 is getting a torque converter

@Mods requesting to merge these 2 posts as I couldn't edit the older post.

Most likely it's the torque converter auto. Gear indicator markings are usually on the shifter's plastic floor cover which is removed in the spied car and the knob has no gear pattern markings. The shifter design is exactly identical to Thar/XUV700/ScorpioN's automatic variants. The current AMT has a monostable shifter which always rests at the center like a joystick.

Now the only thing to do if it is a torque converter is to find out which engine this will be mated to. Wish they offered it in both petrol and diesel. XUV300 diesel with automatic would be too sweet an offering.

Latest scoop pics of the XUV300 facelift.

New Mahindra Compact SUV spotted | XUV300 Facelift?-xuv300-facelift.jpg

The front definitely gets more aggresive with the XUV700 like lights with a 3D effect and a bullish front nose design. Goodbye the clean front end design of the present XUV300.

The rear looks kinda tamer. It gets the connected taillights alright, but guess the lights on the tailgate has been removed.
