Re: Best Air Conditioning Segment wise

The Alto (800cc) had a surprisingly powerful AC, which of course sapped engine power. I believe it was because it was equipped with the Zen's 165cc compressor. The Tata Winger has a really super-cool AC, especially the overhead unit is so powerful that it was throwing out fog during summer!!
Even the humble Nano has a chiller of a unit, what surprised me is that the car really didn't show signs of low power with the air conditioning on.

These guys have chilling A/c's across their whole range of vehicles. It has to do with the manufacturers attitude towards aspects like A/c in the vehicle and these guys have got it spot on. Period.
I've traveled for a fair amount of time in the Honda City(2nd & 3rd gen) & both cars have a pretty ok A/C & not a chiller by any standards. Hyundai is quite inconsistent when it comes to A/Cs in their various cars, like the current Verna has a good A/c but the first gen i20 had a terrible A/C. Cant say anything about Toyota or Maruti but Ford sure has the best Air Conditioning in the business.

My personal experiences -
Indigo - very good AC though engine power use to take a hit.
Manza - had excellent AC.
City 2014- Awesome AC up till now.
Fiesta old one - brilliant AC. Will rate it the coolest I have experienced till now.
Laura - pathetic AC.
I20 first gen- pathetic AC.

Bro is there a specific Toyota model which has a killer AC? I'm an AC lover and would goto the extent of just buying a car for pure AC comfort. Thanks.

If you want best AC , it just has to be for any car from Toyota. It's a chiller no matter how hot the weather is outside. I think it has to do with the Denso compressor if I'm not mistaken.

You can pick any Toyota and just chill. They know their job when it comes to air-conditioning.

Agreed. The first i20s had serious issues. Even lots of complaints were drawn by many Getz owners. That aside, Hyundai rocks pretty good. Right from the small Santro to the bigger Sonata

I think the Tata Nano has one of the nicest ACs available.

I would like to differ on this one though. I have owned a swift, fiesta classic and now an ertiga. My exp is that Fiesta a/c was good 'under the shade'. Out in the sun, even if cabin was already cool, it starts to get hot badly. To me fiesta a/c is not in the top class. Mine was 2012 Fiesta Classic TDCi

+1 to that. Pretty astounding for a tiny engine. Nicely configured ac. Only problem is it gets clogged up soon and when that happens the performance goes flat on its face. You won't even get air out of the vents! But its easily sorted. Getting a good film on the windshield helps a lot as is with all cars but more so in nano.

In my experience with Baleno, Figo, Rapid, Punto, Swift:
Swift>Baleno>Punto>Figo>Rapid.
The first four are all good enough, and the ranking is only for the sake of it. But the acc in Rapid takes its own sweet time, especially if it's parked under the sun.

Re: Best Air Conditioning Segment wise

Tata Zest diesel too has an excellent AC. Even with 4 members on a May afternoon, it doesnt need to be run at maximum for more than 10 minutes from the start. Cools very efficiently.
