Ahhh....ofcourse it is overpriced.Any senseble person would rather settle for an Accent by adding some more amount than the Getz.
Finally.....good car, good service, good power but priced on the higher side.

Guys,

I just came back from checking out the Getz in detail. Some observations:

1. It looks damn rich. and meaty. The clean lines look truly european.
2. The interiors are spacious but good for only 4. The rear seat is not wide enough for 5 under any circumstances.
3. The interiors are of pretty good quality and every switch and handle has a "chunky" feel to it.
4. I like the seating position. Good view and nicely laid out dials. Extremely light clutch and nice gearshift.
5. The way the rear seats double fold and disappear...its highly practical for when you may need to do some transporting duty's.
6. Hyundai has cut costs big time. Even on the fully loaded, there are 13" wheels, NO power mirrors and NO stereo.

All in all, seems to be one sensible machine. But I dont like korean petrol engines. Too bad the CRDi is going to be outpriced.

Will update with a test drive by the weekend.

ya it is overpriced. I think Hyundai is beginning to think that it can overprice it's cars and get away with it cuz Indians look upon hyundai as a premium brand. I guess they r trying to do what honda and toyota are doing but i thought they must have realised that their foolishness after the sonata and elantra fiascos but no such luck.
The Getz is a super flop in Europe and it's amusing to me sometimes to see how people here are waiting with baited breath for the Getz like it were a launch from Mercedes or BMW!! I don't blame hyundai for getting carried away!

Customer support or service my friend. Hyundai is banking on that. Add to this is the spotless track record of Santro. People will go for it as an upgrade. Like it or not.

I agree with Rudra . Hyundai has built up quite a good reputation for their service and after sales support . That is indeed giving them confidence for the Getz. But as far as the diesel Getz goes, I feel they should think again about its pricing cause 6 + for a hatchback is a no no. If one remembers even the Zen diesel didnt take off and that was priced high too.

A price around 5.5 lakhs should be decnt if not good for the Getz CRDi.

A hatchback for a price of Rs. 5 Lacs + is going to be rather difficult for people to digest.

Like your mobile phone, you will find that the car will subtly become cheaper, via additiona of gadgets, fancy finance schemes or a mere price cut. I bought my mum a new fully loaded santro in 1999 for Rs 4.4l on the road. Equivalent will be slightly more but has more bells and whistles.

Adding to Rudra's comments: Yes after the initial hype is over, we are looking at upgrading it, she is comfortable with the service that she gets, I never have to intervene. A lot better than Honda !!!!!!........unles suzuki bring their fancy new Swift over here - with an indian made jtd engine, it will eat the pants of the Getz CRDi
