yes - dealers never know or even if they know dont want to talk about upgrades and in the process post pone the decision of a prospective customer..

so is the new NHC going to be based on HONDA'S small car platform like FIT and JAZZ or based on old civic ? does any one know this for sure..

and is it going to be just a grown up odd ball design of the NHC or is it going to be more like what cars need to look like ? ( meaning long hood, low body and a decent boot ! - OHC i mean )

Well i had read in one of forums in malaysian auto website. One person had said that he had seen the new Honda City in the factory and it looked stunning. The way he described about it , it seems like these inspirational pics in Page no.1 might be true. He said front it looks lil like Civic . Im sure if all this is true Honda has yet another chartbuster.

New Honda City?

Hi,

Been hearing about the nexgen honda city which is supposedly coming on Oct '08.

Did some googling and found this link

Next generation Honda City/Fit Aria

Guess it is also known as Fit Aria (Honda US has a Honda Fit, but it is a hatchback)

Could this be the New Honda City which everyone is talking about?

P.S. sorry if there is already have a post on this. Tried searching on T-BHP but could not find anything on Fit or Fit Aria as search query.

Ciao

that pic has been around for a long time, even before the new Jazz was launched. Its a photoshop job of what the Honda's new design theme may look like. borrowing heavily from the CRV nose. Its way off the mark when you look at how the jazz actually turned out.

That article was more of an artist impression of Next Gen city based on Jazz . But the Jazz which was launched was totally different . Im pretty sure Honda will bring a better City and this one wont be launched .

My prayer to Fiat : Please be more dynamic in the stratergy game.

Honda unfortunately do not have a compact diesel to plonk in the New City, that is a few years away, atleast.

This car is going to rock and looks like the little brother of civic. However after this launch, SX4 can breathe because this vehicle will be priced around 9-10 lakhs where the competition would be with Corolla, Optra etc and not anymore with SX4, where the Jazz would be coming in for competition with SX4, like the Skoda fabia, hatch design giving the comfort of a sedan.

Is this just speculation or an insider information?

If this is true , then you are saying that new new city and the civic will have only have difference of 2 lkh?

I dont think that is gonna be the case. As of now the Civic is already competing with the Corolla, Optra and the Octavia. I dont think Honda will make such a stupid move and fight among themselves. Though the Jazz would be targetted as a premium hatch, but I think Honda would learn a lesson or 2 from the case of the Fabia. And instead position the Jazz to take on the Swift and the Getz.

Honda is NOT going to price the new city at 10 lakh rupees. They are especially wary of Toyotas plans to launch a cheaper sedan, and will ensure that the Honda City continues to be a 7 - 8 lakh rupee C segment sedan.

I wouldnt agree with you fully ! Honda would not want to take City to next level. The new new city will surely be priced a notch higher but it wouldnt mean that Honda will make it compete with Corolla.Honda should offer ABS and Driver side Airbags in GXI & VTEC. Honda has to be careful with pricing as it should not increase the price difference between SX4 ZXI and CITY GXI.

Hope they wouldnt take the price beyond 10 Lakhs. So far their policy seem to be give less and take more. Only after the competition kicked in they are considering about ABS, Air bags etc. When they bring in the new Honda City hope they plan to include some unique features and not just boast about the engine alone (remember the hype when the current city was launched, mileage something like 27kmpl).

The New City will stay where it is now, price wise. The Civic would take on the upcoming new Corolla. As for the Jazz, a whole new sub segment would open up with the Fabia, SRV giving it company.

The exisitng price of Honda city 1.6 vtec with ABS, Airbag is around 9 Lakhs on-road. What would they bring with the same feature to a new model, will they give it for 9 Lakhs, defnitely not. If they would bring a under-powered engine like 1.3 Base, then they may price between 7-8 lakhs. Everyone knows that Honda always keeps the price a little high than expected, there are people ready to buy only for brand.
