If Hyundai is looking for any success in it's upcoming launches, then they better don't repeat a Getz CRDI attitude. i10 is a good alternative to the Santro but it's way too expensive. Thanks to all the CAR oF THE YEAR awards from various magazines and hard marketing, it's doing well in the market. I don't think the diesel i10 with a humongous price difference will do any impact in the market.
Swift D and the Indica will lead unless Hyundai pulls out one of their old trump cards in pricing and positioning.

Friends,

I just noticed from Hyundai's web site that there is a Getz GVS 1.3 model available. All the while I thought GLS and GLX were the 1.3 models. Not sure when Hyundai released GVS 1.3 [I'm sorry if it has been there for a long time and I've not noticed it]. Also the price of GLS and GLX are reduced by 10K.

Now,

1. If Getz will be replaced by i20, why will Hyundai bother to introduce a new model GVS 1.3? To boost the sales? OR To make way for i20?

2. What is the Logic for reducing the price of GLS and GLX models when maruti is hiking its price for all its models? Is it trying to price i20 little bit above GLX and retain Getz?

Any thoughts? Sorry if this has been already discussed.

Regards!
Nithi.

The i10 diesel is good news. The petrol version has been doing well and there is no reason why a 1.1 CRDi version should not do well. It is a step above the santro and the interiors are better than the swift. As for the i20, it would make sense to discontinue the Getz while plonking that 1.5 CRDi under the hood of the i20, with a sensible price tag of course.

Though LPG version of Santro and diesel i10 are being introduced, there will be good price difference. The expected low-running costs are the only similarity here but i do believe the i10 diesel would be rather expensive car for its size. Also, the LPG version cannot be taken for long runs solely fed with LPG as there arent enough filling stations on highways and mofussils. Diesel could be a better bet if it is priced right.

Hope its true . Finally i10 will get a 1.2 . I always felt for its price i10 should have got the 1.2. Now is the question - what will be the price??? . Already 1.1 is overpriced. 1.2 will surely enter Swift VXI territory.

It should be... the gap between need and desire, Swift Dzire!

i10 diesel is a good news. Some more competition in the market. Pricing is the key.
OT: I hope they launch i10 petrol with auto box soon. First they discontinued Santro automatic saying that i10 will have auto box, now they have re-introduced santro automatic. I dont know what their plan for i10-auto

Getz diesel is a complete and colossal failure.
Even Company showroom, Hyundai Motor Plaza cannot source one for a test drive since two weeks. Nothing expected in another two - three weeks either. And even that would be a customer car. Shame!

Get in line man! I've been asking them since December last when they can offer me a TD & till date they haven't been able to do so! They offered me a customer car which i could drive in their compound but I refused to do that.

That's funny! I was told that the getz D TD car was available here readily. And the delay was only around 2-3weeks for delivery!!

Did a bit of googling. The new 1.2 mentioned in the link i pasted is a petrol. There are several new reports stating that. It is expected before Sept 08 and expected to produce 80 BHP!!

No news on diesel yet!

Elito

Edit: Mods can we edit the thread headline to 'Hyundai i10 diesel and i10 1.2 Petrol'
