Yes it doesnt look like the closed windows as shown on the European Car.

@aka_iitd- The European Alto i.e. the A star has closed window on rear door i.e. it can not be rolled down.

Perhaps it was the 1.2 ltr engine doing duty here in these models ? That explains the 130+ speed

1.2 ltr?

Anyways the A-star's 3 pot engine has 67 bhp power which is slightly more than that of Wagon R, so doing 130 on speedo shouldn't be a problem even with the 3 cylinder engine.

good pics - and 130+ kmph sounds decent.

the person driving the Blue A-Star looks like the editor of a recently launched auto-magazine.

@deepakgautam: great job, does the white car look as if it has the Maruti std ABS stickering on it? If so that would be great news and a first for this segment.

@amtak: Rear window is visible only in one of the pictures. How were you able to make out that it is unlike an ordinary (butterfly) window?

Isn't that guy driving the car, Autobuild editor Yogendra Pratap ?

Anyways. 130+ should be breeze for 67 bhp engine, so no surprises there. The question is, how much Fuel efficiency it will return.

Thanks Techno for the help. It seems that these cars were given to a bunch of press people for road testing purpose.

Yep, there was a media launch in Delhi some days back. The cars were seen on the Greater Noida Taj expressway.
Pricing will be around 3.5 mark. BUT, the rear seat comfort and space aint nothing good. Infact, the rear window doesnt even roll down completely!

Its the same with Santro, Estilo, i10, WagonR. The rear seat is not good in any of those. Only exception is Indica. Swift and Getz belong to higher segment.

Regarding the rear window not rolling down completely, this again is true for WagonR. And look how it sells!

Its true for SX 4 also. I think it holds for most of the cars.
