Instead of brining a SX4 in diesel and 4X4 to make a sporty hatch, why don't they bring in a new generation of Gypsy? It will give them unimaginable volumes.

To kill Fabia Skoda priced it way high and I dont think any Indian company takes Fabia as a competition.

Need to find its sales figures.

Fabia is selling in good numbers. I am also waiting for Vasudeva's figures but I can vouch for it that it is indeed selling in good numbers. Though it would be a wrong comparison but, I see 2 fabia's on the road as against 1 Getz despite Getz being a cheaper alternative. Not comparing the sales with Swift as I am sure, swift moves more swiftly as compared to Fabia!

The hatch really looks good and i like the white color with the spoiler on it. Looks brilliant and will do better with a ddis in it

The Fabia appeals to those who are well-heeled in terms of budget, are very quality conscious and dont mind paying for quality, want a luxury feel in their normal daily city runabouts and are also driven partially by ease of parking / city usage. It is clearly not a car for the mass market and will never outdo Swift/ Getz etc etc. Perhaps Skoda simply wants a presence in the luxe hatch market and doesnt seriously look at the same market segment as the Swift/ Getz etc do!

SX4 as a hatch, if priced right, will be a very good option because of Marutis trusted image, good service network and generally inexpensive maintenance. Plus it will look very good with its aggressive and slightly higher SUV/ Crossover-like stance etc. Will definitely appeal.

Take for example the SRV from Chevy - such a good looking car but killed totally by its initial pricing! Now despite the huge reductions in price, there are not many takers for the same!

Even if the SX4 hatch is 2 lakhs cheaper, the fabia crowd will not consider the SX4. Maruti & premium do not go hand in hand

The only reason people buy Fabia hatch is because Fabia is not made as a sedan. They are mainly going for the badge, engine, quality interior and solid feel...plus their major gripe is that its not offered as a sedan.

If there were both, then very few would buy the hatch if any. Case in point Optra and SRV. Frankly I feel there is no business case for the SX4 hatch..it was primarily designed for Europe.

any why do you think so ?

No offence : but if maruti had a higher price tag and if had their spares extremely expensive ( like the 2000+ odd wheel cap cover from another thread ) , would the world have agreed that the sx4 was indeed a premium product ?

It has nothing to do with spares prices.

I own a SX4 and say this from expereince. To give just one example, the NVH is pretty poor for a car that costs Rs.8.xx lakhs.
