I am pretty sure this is just an engine test mule where they take an all new engine and put it in an existing car to test it. Toyota has said that the Yaris will not come to India and it will be an all new 3rd world special a'la Logan.

Thanks santosh!! its an important scoop and a important car for india. Although i dont agree that the pricing will be par with Suzuki. Simply because they manufacture a car to make money not to do Social service. I would say its going to be placed between FABIA and Fiat 500.. So bangalore will be 9-11 lakhs easily

You mean to say that other companies are doing social service??
Toyota spokeperson had mentioned in an article that the hatchback would
be a safe one for highway driving . So we can expect airbags ,ABS and other bells and whistles but 9-11 lacs is quite too much for that.

For cars manufactured here in India, I think a Yaris should cost around 8-9L depending on trim levels.

Corolla: USD16.5K ~ INR13L
Yaris: USD 11K ~ 13/16.5*11 ~ INR8L

Really depends on the competition at the time of the launch. There would be plenty of cars in this segment by mid-2009. Honda Jazz would be a good competitor to the Yaris. Of course, the Jazz doesn't have a diesel option.

Wait a min ! I have seen that front end - it was disguised the same way when I saw it.

I saw this car near the horrible stretch of road connecting NICE Road to bannerughatta road. Some idiot who looked like a goon was riding it on that stretch and caught my eye since I wondered why on earth he was driving it on such a bad road. I kept staring as I passed by and then there was a minor traffic jam as people jostled for position on a narrow stretch. I was right in front of this guys car and he was none too happy with me staring and then lost his cool and shouted " Swalpa eekade banni saar ! "

The prices are incorrect - Corolla: USD16.5K - INR 6.6L
Yaris: USD 11K- 4.4L

What he meant was that Corolla priced at USD 16.5K was being sold for about 13L in India and so he feels the Yaris pricing would be on similar lines.
