Out of the cars, I have travelled in,

Best comfort
* Ambassador - like GTO and other said, its like your drawing room
* Indica, Indigo - very good when new - deteriorates with age though
* NHC - good support and seating position
* Old Camry - superb, beat the Accord easily (can't say about the latest Accord), new Camry
* Merc E class - one reason why most taxis in Europe are older Merc E's
* Lincoln Town Car - American heavy setup
* Skoda Superb - very spacious and good support
* Merc S class - in its own league. Also depending on which suspension, it becomes even better

Pretty Good
* Lancer
* Logan - a bit flat bench
* Ikon
* Matiz - good for two and for a small hatch

Worst
* Santro - old and new gen : Suspension too bumpy, limited space
* Wagon R
* Esteem
* Swift - no space

Worst:
Porsche 911, Merc SL and some more of these really expensive cars.
Forget the ride, even fitting in the damned thing is a problem.
Jokes apart, Maruti 800 has the worst rear seat.
Best
50L - 1Cr: Merc S Class
30L - 50L: Merc E CLass
15L - 30L: Honda Accord
10L - 15L: Toyota Corolla Altis
Below 10L: Tata Indigo, Safari

Agree with all the classifications, but for the Accord. The 'old' Camry is IMO definitely better than the Accord having taken Camry taxis a lot in Taiwan.
So, was curious if you felt otherwise ?

Best:
My Tempo Traveller. I have put in a bed mattress on long trips and slept comfortably. The individual seats aren't bad either.

Worst:
Both of my Jeeps. Not sure which one is worse, the 340 or 550, but they both work great for transporting the mother-in-law.

Best is S-class. Only first class air travel can rival that. I found Indigo and Accent and Tavera back seats very good. Worst are Omni, worn-out taxi sumos, M-800.

Just curious please clarify: Many seem to like Indigo. I have just heard from someone that Marina is superior to Indigo in back-seat ride. Not experienced it. Can somebody confirm?

That's surprising. I found the Lancer's rear seats pretty comfortable. Not the best, but, certainly not the worst. In its segment, it was better than the OHC and at par with the Baleno.

Once you get in it is comfortable. To get in and get out is the painful part because of the car's height. Legroom wise it's pretty decent.

For me the worst was the Skoda Octavia and ofcourse my Alto. I can't even get in the back. Actually the old zen was also very uncomfy in the rear.

But the winner for the worst rear seat for me is the Reva.

...oops I forgot to mention the Sonata. Getting in and out is a little painful, but once you are seated....wow.. its very spacious and roomy in there.

It is indeed so! After spending a late night night at work i was provided with a Marina Cab. Expecting just another 'cab ride' home i was quite shocked (NOT surprised) wen i found myself not wanting to get off the cab! I had slept like a baby all the way!

But its not just the back seat rather a combo of that and an excellent ride/suspension setup!

Gosh it reminded me of UNO's ride quality!

Good: Amby, Sonata Embera, Indica (though the seats are hard), Innova
Average: Logan, Esteem (not sure why many have rated this 'bad' I find it ok), Astra
Bad: Accent, M800, Zen, Santro, Omni, Gypsy
Nightmares: Swift, MM540!
