The article does not say when?? 2009 or 2010. This article seems to imply `next year' or 2010

6000 units seems a decent target by Toyota . i20 sells more than 2000 units , Swift sells more than 9000 units. Price it between these two and Voila Toyota will have a winner. I hope they get the 1.4 diesel too as soon as possible for the hatchback.

Pretty obvious its the Yaris/Soluna. He mentions that it will be offered in sedan and hatchback variants. This thread has been totally misleading.

Anekho- Nice pics.
Yaris looks good, Aygo more like an i10 range.
Priced above 6 lakhs i doubt Yaris will sold in plenty inspite of Toyota's reliabilty and reputation.

thank you.
indeed pricing will be key to the yaris' success/failure. a range of 5 to 6 lakhs with all the european safety features should be reasonable.

cheers

Messed up topic, so many different opinions :s
Toyota says 5-7L...so the Aygo doesn't fit in there, has to be Yaris then

Anyway, a yaris sedan does look decent, they can easily do very high numbers if it goes under 8L fully loaded, or maybe thats just me being optimistic

I notice too many similarities in the side profile of Hyundai EON & Toyota AYGO.

Having seen EU Aygo, it more or less looks like Brio than Eon. Especially on the boot side with the big glass area.

re: Rumour: Toyota to launch Aygo?

Again seems to be another botched up strategy from Toyota.

They have a competent Hatch in Liva. Just do it in a good manner, give it some lively interiors, make it look a little posher, get the speedo where it belongs.

Ditto treatment for the Etios and they will be ok.

Aygo doesnt look too appealing.

re: Rumour: Toyota to launch Aygo?

Considering that this thread started a good 6 years back and Toyota is still 'planning' and 'thinking' about launching Aygo, I would assume that it is at least a further 3 years away. By that time, we never know what changes in our automobile market and what would be the key segment to focus on.

For example, no one would have believed in 2004 if someone said that a 5-8 lakh rupee car would be the largest selling pie of Indian car market in 10 years. By the time Toyota finally figures out the right small car for Indian market, Corolla might the the prime segment here.
