Pls identify the car & merge with existing thread if this car has been spotted before

Spotted this on SH55 & was following this from Manapakkam upto Porur. I found only 2 similarities between this one & Mahindra's SUV.
1. Exhaust pipes (this one has dual exhaust, not sure if Mahindra has a single or dual)
2. Body

However, I found this one has Bonnet scoop & alloy wheels that are missing with Mahindra; and ofcourse the TN compared to the MH registration plate.

Since I'm little confused, I leave it to the mods & members to merge the thread if this is same as Mahindra's SUV.

Interesting door handle design- is it a case of M&M trying to be different for the sake of it? or will it gel with the overall design.....lets wait and see.

Thankfully the grille is neat on this one. the door handles look good & unique but i am not sure how well it would work & how convenient it would be.

I am pleased to see rear disc brakes too. Atleast mahindra is not skimping on safety & equipment this time.

I would have liked to see a more masculine RVM though. this one is just too rounded to suit a mahindra IMO.

There is another similarity, those door handles are exactly the same as the Mahindra SUV spotted earlier.

Also those could be equipment on the bonnet not neccesarily a bonnet scoop.Or a decoy of sorts.

Must be a decoy, we have not seen it earlier and also why have two of them.

I like what I see. Mahindra seems to have got the proportions, design right this time around. Hope the final product is engineered and built to at least Innova standards as well.

I however do not understand why not one manufacturer has a Crossover 7 seater priced between 7-9 lakhs in the works. I, for one dont believe its that difficult to design and build one using existing mid size sedan mechanicals and engines. If Tata can do a Indigo, Marina and XL on the base Indica platform, then can surely do a cross over (albeit based on the vista platform) as well?

awesome. The interior, especially, the short gear stick and the hand breaks makes me like the vehicle - even though it is from mahindra or tata. The hand brakes reminds me the civics hand breaks.

The middle row doesn't look very comfortable. The door handle looks pretty awkward however, we might have to wait and see how it will finally look on the vehicle.

I am curious to know why this Mahindra SUV is always tilted to one side either of LHS & RHS side

is the suspension imbalanced or its too soft that SUV keeps tilting

Got a followup call from Mahindra abt the Scorpio i had intended to buy, I mentioned 'will wait for the new SUV, they said it will be in 2011 in the category of Endeavour!!!!!????

Can M&M provide quality for that kind of monies... particularly panel gaps and squeaks???

PS: M&M has not revealed the total expenditure of this take over yet !
All the magazines (AUTOINDIA) & newspapers are buzzing with the question of M&M getting the Ssangyong Motors models in India. So I guess the takeover is complete. But inputs are welcome!

I confirm that the interior pictures are of the Mahindra W201 I test drove in Mahindra City couple of months back and of which I have posted a Test drive report and some pictures in this same post.

The vehicle I test drove had 6 forward gears and the reverse had a seperate slot towards the left front like in the old Astras and some Old BMW's that I have seen. It was an AWD so there was no 4WD selector switch.

It had all the goodies mentioned like ABS, AIRBAGS, EBD, Traction control, Cruise Control, etc...though not sure what all were working at the time we test drove the vehicle.

The aircon was not effective and the music system was not working either. I am sure the production cars will have these sorted out.

The engine did feel more powerful than a 140Bhp and also I got to look under the bonnet and it dint look like a familiar engine to me, I dont consider myself an expert but I do recognize some engines and this was something new.

For an initial feel of the drive people can look up at my previous post.

I think AV8er you must've spotted the Ssangyong 5 cyl. 2.7 diesel and gearbox combo in the car. Mahindra have already borrowed this engine for the Axe.

I am sure even after this confirmation, some may still speculate this is some nissan or hyundai!

is there a switch to disable the AWD, like in the Aria?

Friends the take over is complete! You can check it by visiting the following URL:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SsangYong_Motor_Company

It has been clearly mentioned that the parent company is M&M.
