Trying to get rid of the stock and then finally pulling the plug and plonking crdi into i20?

Or is that wishful thinking

Plonking the 1.5 crdi engine in i20 or the 1.4 crdi engine in the i20, may be the only logical reason for this move. With this move, I am sure getz crdi is going to be stopped. Hyundai would not want two similar cars with similar engines with a huge price difference.

I checked with a Trident Hyundai guy about the new price. On-road it comes to 6.45 lakhs now compared to 6.65 lakhs earlier. Additional Discount offered is around 5k if we dont take the free mp3 player on offer.

So its still around 20k more than the Swift Vdi (non-ABS version). To score over the popularity of the Swift, I feel they should bring it below the price of the Swift, specially since they lack ABS option and tubeless tyres as well.

Car-per-car, its now a way better deal than the Swift diesel at that price.

Car-per-car it might be a better deal, but for the general public, it might not seem that way. The way to beat an established rival is generally by playing the price game and/or better specs. Getz does neither, except for having a brilliant engine and more space.

As an eg: Pulsar when launched was better speced (read self-start as option and disc brakes) was priced at 50k (cochin) while its competitor and at that time No 1 CBZ was prized at 60k. We all know what happened next.

I believe they wouldnt pull the plug just yet. AFAIK, they still sell the Getz in the international markets. It will infact be a smart move if they price it in straight competition to the Swift Diesel and position i20 diesel higher. With the 1.5 crdi engine available in 3 cars the prices may come down and find place among buyers hearts just like the Fiat multi-jet.

Why do all the deals land in Mumbai/Pune or Delhi?

Man! That is a great price! Its total VFM now. I guess hyundai is clearing stocks to make way for the i20 crdi. The i 20 will not come with the same 1.5 vgt engine. Its coming with a 1.4L 79(?) bhp motor.

Apart from FE , Getz is way better compare to swift, and by this price its a reasonable piece to buy.

Logical. A li'l birdie insists that the Getz CRDi is at the end of its production run.
