Nothing spectacular really, I was expecting a bit more considering the international hype of the Engine. The swift diesel manages 21.7 and The Indica vista 22.3 as well. Interesting to note that the Vista's figures have increased from 20.9 to 22.3 after BS IV norms.

Guys, dont think we should keep criticizing SIAM so much, atlest they test all the car under a constant condition.

Imagine if there is no org. like SIAM to give out the figures, only other resource would be the car FE as quoted car ads. Lucky we have some neutral orgn. which takes care of this job. With no bias.
Yea exactly, the figures(If the test is consistent that is) at least give us a relative measure of FE between different cars. For example SIAM mileage of 15.6 for the Figo petrol and 15.2 for the Punto 1.2 clearly indicate that they give less mileage than the Polo/Swift petrol at 17.2/17.9

In my opinion, as the yardstick is the same for all, these are the only trustworthy figures which are helpful in comparing various models in India. So these matter much more .

Let us not compare the Petrol or any other normal fuel vehicles with the likes of CNG / LPG / Hybrid vehicles.

It doesnt making sense that way, we should only make relative comparison of Petrol Vs Petrol cars and likewise Diesel Vs Deisel cars.

Re: SIAM / ARAI Fuel Efficiency Figures (Now with Jan 2011 Data - pg6)

With in my experience I find the companies are giving reasonable consumption and the mileage in their advertisement. So far I was driving in various speeds and various conditions of road. Day before yesterday I have decided to drive 70-80 speed only. It was a long drive. On ward was a combination of all kinds of roads and Ac was on. I filled up to the brim after 556 km s I filled again and the speed was 80Kms or less. The fuel filled was 24.59 Lt.. Mileage is 22 plus kms/Lt. the other stretch with out AC because it was cloudy next fill was at 269 km s odo. The quantity filled was 10.65 Lt. Now the FE is around 25 plus. So if we follow the right instructions then it gives the recommended Consumption. For Ritz diesel they say 21.7. I get more than that so it is right and some may not give due to some other un identified factors.

Honda tops list of India's most fuel efficient cars - Dethrones Maruti

Though this article from ET is based on the figures shared by manufacturers, and might not be accurate in real world scenario, it is fascinating to see how a big sedan like City outclasses most of the even smaller cars in the market, in terms of fuel efficiency. That too without compromising anything on power or engine volume.

The earlier number one was Maruti's Alto.

Here is the list;

The engine is same in City & Amaze. But city scores even with more kerb weight. Interesting

The difference between gear boxes (Six speed in City versus five speed in Amaze) may be responsible for this.

Is this an updated list?

Indigo XL is a long forgotten and discontinued model.
