i'd love to go for a 2 door car ...
the original corsa came with 2 doors ..
but i prefer to own a 2 door coupe than a 2 door hatch ...

the zen -carbon and steel was a huge huge hit !
only 300 of each were made ..and they were a complete sell out

I don't mind whether it is a two door or four doors, provided no compromise in comfort & no difference in cost

2 door coupes like Integra/Celica/Eclipse usually have a higher price point. (15L) Only Ford makes an affordable sports coupe............The PUMA.....and guess what...its based on the IKON platform. They could have easily introduced this at a premium of 1L over the Ikon (instead of the stupid Fusion). It may not sell in large numbers, but that's not the point...it will be a desirable/talked about car that will improve the image of the Ford brand ultimately help it to sell more IKONs. Hope Ford realizes this soon.

.........note the similarities in the cockpit.

I doubt a 2-door car will sell like hot cakes in India. It would be preferred as a 2nd or a 3rd car. For most of the car buyers, the car is still used to ferry the entire family. They wouldnt wanna sacrifice on space and practicality. Think about it. Is a 2-dr car practical when its a 4-5 seater. It may look good sportier, but not as practical as a 4-dr 4/5 seater.

So i guess even if any manufacturer introduces a 2-dr , it should be launched strictly as a Ltd Edition (in other words export rejects) since it will not be selling in large volumes.

2 doors doing well here i doubt !! infact people would ask to remove the 2 doors too , so that they get better FE !

as a personal choice - yes i would buy it however impractical it may be !

The Zen Carbon and Steel was only a limited edition but it was a sellout, which tells me that there is a segment of youth that wants cars like these

Yes, in a 2-door its hard to get into the back seat, but if you have another big 4 door at home, then you dont really care because the only people jumping into the back seat are your friends who we assume are young and atheletic. Just like tight jeans and high heels, there is a price to pay for fashion......and that's comfort.

talking about coupes ..and improving brand image ..

what about the tata Aria with the 145 bhp motor ? ..both the specs and the design looked fantastic ...am sure tata could have managed to price it below the 10 lac range ..

there is certainly a market for 2 dr cars .. a launch by TATA or MUL will be a very profitable move ..

Ground Clearance is raised on almost all the cars that are adapted for India. You lose a bit in handling and looks, but still the main virtues of the car remain intact.

Would you buy a 2 door car ?

Well, what do i say, i already have one, the zen carbon. Would i buy another 2 door? Definitely yes, but just make sure it has double the carbon's horsepower.

Neo, that's cool car man. What do you think about access into the back seat? Also, is the front door longer than a regular 4 door Zen. Price?Pics?
