This is more like the real thing, I think it would settle at about 11.5kmpl once you start taking it to 3000-3500revs.....

My wagonR gives about 11-12kmpl...... so.. swift is.. not bad.

Yeah 11/12 would sound abt right for the car that weights that much!
some people were saying it would be 14/15 for some reason though ...although it has the same engine as the esteem and even more weight.

well, my swift's clocked about 750 kms now, and in the 2 tank-ups that i have had, the fuel efficiency has been calculated to be around 10-14 kmpl. and 100% of the driving has been done with a/c. so, under normal driving conditions, a swift would give a minimum of 10 when revved hard (or in city), and a maximum of 16-17 under sedate driving.....

When we are talking of Mileage.... Isn't there any chance of miscalculating the Fuel level Indicator... and judge the Mileage wrong.... With Power and Weight that Swift has it would definitely be giving less mileage than any other Maruti product... Mileage is something that depends on the Driver, Engine and Driving Conditions..... So, It's all upon U and Ur Car....

Getting 1-2 KMPL more is a good thing in this ever rising fuel prices... And it does make sense as you are contributing to the Indian economy by saving fuel. If people get highly fuel efficient vehicles, our burden on importing fuel and (then ultimately fuel prices ) will reduce to a great extent...

all,
My petra gives me
9---City ----------(Windsor manor to Marathahalli-Via Airport Rd)
11.6---City--------(Windsor manor to Marathahalli-Via Outer Ring road)
12.6---Hwy--------(Tumkur-Bangalore )
14~----Hwy-------(Mysore Bangalore)

All with 100% AC on. Driving like any other sane driver with all mortal desire for speed capable and safe on the respective roads..
You can notice not so marginal difference.. Proves, driving conditions make a big difference..

BTW, Swift being ligher, lower CC, and less powerful must give a better average, Of course unless really drien crazy..

The above figures are pretty much the norm for a 1.6L engine. Also, considering the weight disadvantage that Fiat cars have, the mileage you are getting is pretty good. Why then do fiat cars have the tag of poor fuel efficency in India?

Because the expectations.. Most who buy non-luxury cars expect "milage" of a 800 and all bells and whistles + space in a mid segment car :(

May be Octy is set to spoil the luxury market too.. Every one may want all the mercs and accords deliver the milage of octy with all luxury
