For first 500km my Petra (Petrol) gave me 7.5 to 8 kmpl in city
After I got used to drive it after some tips from TBHP, I got 10kmpl in city.

After 1st service, I started getting 11kmpl in city and got around 14.8 kmpl on Highways..

Maruti & Hyundai has done pretty good activity in spreading this & FIAT has done nothing to counter it

My 2001 palio as of now has clocked 28K..it still as good as it was 3 yrs back..it gives 13kmpl in town & 16 in highway.

It puts to shame my Sis Zen in all aspects

I get 11-12 kmpl in my Siena 1.6 ELX..

On the highway...in my recent trip to Bangalore...I got around 14....

& I have met many cribbing Ikon Owners ( 1.3 rocam)...( ~ 9-10)...
cribbing Hyundai owners ( ~12-13)...

I guess for Fiat Owners the pleasure is private & cribs are public..for the other...the pleasure is public & the cribs are private !!

I own an Ikon Flair 1.3 Rocam , get about 10kmpl with AC in City , recently while travelling on the Mumbai - Ahmedabad Highway got 14.5 kmpl witth AC, 5 ppl on board & boot filled to the brim.

Although most of my friends with palio 1.6 complain of an FE of abt 8-9kmpl.

Hey hasopi , why the hell are you branding ppl yaar ! I was referring to paharino's post who said he had heard of ikon returning 9-10kmpl , just thought would be better if i got the thing cleared since i own the ikon for almost a year now.

As far as the Palio is concerned , it was owned by a very good friend of mine, just told you what he told me . Infact I was considering the palio 1.2 too (palio 1.6 wasnt available then & Petra was relatively new ) ,was bothered with the ASS so waited for the Getz , then just had a test drive of the Ikon since there was not too much of a price diff between the two, liked it , so bought it. Hope I got that cleared ! Cheers :-)

Update

Hi,

Just returned from a weekend trip to Ambala/Chandigarh/Rajpura. Fuel consumption figures as under;

Outbound:
- 2 Adults + 1 child + abt 100 kg baggage
- BP Speed fuel
- Speeds ranging between 100 ~ 140 kmph on clear streaches
- 80% times in 3rd/4th Gear, 5th only for cruising.
- FE: 17.1 kmpl

Return:
- As above save baggage, now down to 60 kgs.
- FE: 17.6 kmpl

FYG, car is 6 months old and has now clocked about 4100 kms. Second service to be carried out within the next 15 days or so.

Any suggestions on Oil change - Intend to go for full synthetic Mobil engine oil per advise from Gurkha - hope warranty doen not get void!

Any further inputs are most welcome.

Cheers

Perfect example of people buying a car that's not fullfilling their needs and then go round critising and blaming the car for not delivering what it never intended to!
Is the FE of 8-9kmpl in city with AC on? If it is it's pretty much what any 1.6L car gives. I had a Palio S10 and never got FE less then 10.5kmpl overall (City+Highway AC on always).
8-9kmpl from a 1.6 L DOHC 16 valve 100 bhp engine is not bad at all.

EEEEkkkkk... 8 - 9 in a swift... Man even my frnd optra gives him around 10 - 11 with ac in city and on highways he gets around 14 - 15.. The best FE in city he ever got was 13.8 almost 14 without ac...

Now i came to know why Swift is called "You are the Fuel"... coz the only thing that will be burning like fuel will be the Swift owners pockets....

Amit..
Precise and useful information given and Nice FE figures you have got there. Information on distance covered would also be helpful.

4100kms so far for 6 months is a decent reading too.

Cheers

Further Update

Hi Muni,

Total distance covered : 630 kms
Cold tyre pressures at start of journey : 34 psi; all around
Tyre pressures at end of trip of journey : Not verified

Also, tried to check the Odometer error by comparing it with a Garmin handheld GPS; Results as under

Over a clear 5 kms streach;
GPS reading 5 km
Odo reading 4.9 - Least count of Odo is 0.0 km only thus it could have been 4.91 or 4.99; FYG, the Odo read 5.0 within 2~3 secs - can not be much off I guess.

Speed indication were almost accurate when compared with the GPS.

I check with MUL ASS in Okhla - Maruti now recommends Mobil Supersyn; in that case warranty is no longer an issue (refer my previous post). Anyways, intend to change to SuperSyn only after 10k.

Cheers

Are you sure of this. I had asked on the last service(at 5K) and they said that they only put the MGA oil. And for any other oil it would have to be done by the owner at the risk of voiding warranty.

BTW anyone has any idea which oil is used at Maruti's service stations. I suppose they use the same oil for their entire car lineup ( from the Alto to the Baleno).
