I don't want to dampen your enthusiasm on the occasion, but do a LONG and DETAILED PDI before picking up a 2008 model car that has been standing in a showroom for 2+ years. Make sure all liquids (coolants, brake fluids, P S fluids, engine oils, transmission oils etc) are flushed and new ones put in. Also ensure that the entire body is checked in detail for rusting, decay (plastic and rubber parts) etc. Basically, I wouldn't touch that car, its been standing for too long!

Well, if I did anything, then it was to discourage my b-i-l to seal such a deal.

Once he took the decision we had an inspection of the car yesterday and were reasonably convinced that the car was INSIDE the showroom for the entire 18 months period with the dealer. The battery has gone for charging, don't know how long it would last. The flushing of liquids will be important. All said and done, it is like buying a second hand car with company warranty.

Re: Under-rated, hated, and forgotten-the story of the Fiat Palio

Thought of bumping this nostalgic thread as the palio completes 10 years. This car belongs to a BHPian's friend and is as fresh as a daisy. The best maintained stock GTX ever I have seen. And yes, its all original.

Bumping up this thread with a couple of my S10's snaps.

A tribute to Palio as well as @Sidindica

I shall be putting up some more in my S10's thread hopefully over the weekend.

The car is Belgaum registered. Is this driven there? Hardly any Palios there actually...

The car is "stocker" than stock then. Radio antenna was an optional fitment at the dealer, actually, back in 2001/2002

But the front bumper does not look all stock (with the black inserts)

Actually my GTX came with an antenna integrated into the IRVM. It did not have an antenna sticking out of its head, instead it had two small bits about 2 inches long sticking out of the side of the stalk of the rear view mirror.

Cheers,

Antenna seemed to be standard fitment on the SDX / SLX / 1.6 Sport Stile. Maybe I am wrong. I didn't get it on the SDE, so I bought one from Vivek Auto at Rs 450/-/

That seems after-market. The previous owner must have bought an internal antenna rather than the external one.

Black inserts seem to be a paint job.

Still, a rare thing to see a well-maintained GTX in tangerine mist. Most GTXs in Delhi are silver / ferrari red.

No. It was OE and the bung closing the hole in the roof is exactly the same as on the T.Mist car above. I have seen exactly the same antennas on several other Palios.

Even my car had the same rubber plug on the hole, and a similar one still exists where the rear wiper should have been. I was not aware that the internal antenna was some sort of OE.

If this is true, then I was ripped by Concorde Motors 3 years back. I bought an OEM antenna from outside and got it fitted. It is not working anyways.

Seemed to be standard fitting... seemed being the operative word here. I think I was wrong, and got the wrong impression from the SDX deliveries that happened along with mine.
