I read elsewhere that this car will have cost cutting to the core. The intention is to keep the cost to the bare minimum. The interiors will be of lower quality and fast wearing than seen in existing Toyotas. Hope it will be at least Hyundai levels.

Another factor contributing to the low cost would be its heavy localisation, its supposed to be more than 70%. Also the new factory for the small car project has a capacity of 70,000 units anually, so even if only half the capacity is for domestic sales, Toyota is looking to sell at least 3000 cars based on the platform every month. So there is lot of hope for competitive pricing.
'TMC's Vice-Chairman Kazuo Okamoto confirmed that at this moment, the new small car being developed by Toyota for emerging markets like India would be the cheapest-ever made by the Japanese company' (autoblogs.in, 23/10/09)
So presently the cheapest Toyota selling in the U.K is the Aygo, which is 11% cheaper than the base Swift (Swift starting at £9k vs the Aygo's £8k). So even if they price the hatchback as same as the Swift and the Etios comparable to the Dzire in India, Toyota would easily find a lot of takers.

Wow, the hatchback version looks very chic! Have to wait for better pics of both before we can really get an idea about them though.

The hatch looks good, but the rear end of the sedan looks somewhat similar to the Hyundai Accent.

Is it me or are there hints of a rehash job of some daihatsu. Well if its VFM nad has a Tiyota badge, should be enough for most.

Well Toyota small cars are now shared with Daihatsu. Toyota Passo and Daihatsu Sirion are twins. This one could be another variant.

TUshky, Kelisia is now stopped and it was based on Daihatsu Mira.

The first pic looks like a Yaris to me for sure. I see a lot of Yaris hatch back and Sedan versions in Vietnam and I Highly doubt whether this is what will be offered in India.

The Second Hazy picture maybe different as the rear looks a bit like Ritz.

If this is the Etios, we can be sure it won't be weighed back in the looks department.

Good stuff.

The first pic is the Yaris and the second pic is of the Daihatsu Sirion.

But the spy shots of the new Etios don't look like either of them.

From the pics posted by Vid6639 its quite evident that the cars have very compact dimensions and the sedan is more on the likes of the D'zire rather than say the City. I think this is a good move by Toyota, cos rather than the recently launched (and much bigger) Manza and the older CS, the Dzire is not facing any major competition.
