ETIOS looks a good car.

The link is as below:
Toyota will unveil small car concept at Auto Expo | Indian Car and Bike Blog

The specs seem similar to the i 20 mould.
What prices can we expect?

Small car? This looks like a fiesta/linea sized car to me! What happened to the hatchback they were supposed to launch?

It seems the hatchback will be launched later, after the Etios. This is because Toyota isnt sure that it will be ready to produce the volumes demanded by the hatchback straightaway and will only introduce it when they can keep up with supply. But both cars will be showcased at the Autoshow, thus giving us a good ideaa of what to expect.

I have a sneaky feeling that the Etios will be under 4 mts. to take full advantage of the Govt. benefits and thus compete with the likes of the Dzire. The reason is the hatchback will be based on the same platform and will be exported globally. This car should then slot a segment below the Yaris (3785mm long) or even the Aygo (3415mm long), therefore making it shorter than either of them, perhaps in the 3.5 mts ballpark. This leaves room for the added boot in the sedan version and still be under 4 mts.

Just hope that Toyota prices this right bcos for the right price, this would be a hot seller in its class.
Cant wait to see the real deal during the upcoming expo.

Sedan will indeed be launched first. There is also a makeover of the innova one more time. Later down 2010, a complete major makeover of innova is also pending and will happen. The hatchback is already here in the indian TKM factory for checks and inspections. But Sedan will be sold first. Prices would be in the range of 7-8 lacs and as I said earlier, there would be somewhere close to 22-24 variants with different trim levels. Currently there is nothing from toyota below innova, and this is to bridge the sedan gap and hatchback gap until the avanza arrives post 2012.

You mean the sedan will have more than 20 variants?

The Toyota Etios will definitely kill the competition if priced in the 7 to 9 lakh range. It might even affect the ANHC in the long run.

The Corolla is a Compact Sedan. The Camry is a mid-sizer. A Fiesta/Linea is sub-compact.

The Corolla is a small car.

A measly 1.2 for this sedan (notchback?).

The diesel should be nice on the hatch though!

I wonder if it is an updated version of the Toyota Echo - I had driven it for a while. Not the best of cars I drove - not the worst either.
