Fiat at the Auto Expo 2010

Fiat at the Auto Expo 2010-img_2518.jpg

The cars were the same at the Fiat stall, but boy did they have some variants. Lets start with the most awaited...

Fiat Linea 1.4 T-Jet

- 1.4 Turbocharged petrol
- Rated at 108 BHP (110 PS)
- Rear disc brakes
- 16 inch alloy wheels
- Leather seats
- Other extras such as a shark fin on the roof, spoiler etc.

Engine will initially be available only in top trim level. Expect 1.5 lakh rupee premium. Launch latest in 2nd quarter of 2010, though I wouldn't be surprised to see it here earlier.

Punto Sport (Don't know why they call it sport!).

Finally, the Linea-spec MJD makes its way to the Punto.

- 85 BHP MJD Diesel. Variable geometry turbo.

- Available in top of the line "sport" variant, as well as a mid-level variant (for those who don't want to pay $$$ for the sun roof etc.). The regular MJD engines will continue to be sold as well.

- Expected launch in first quarter of 2010

- Best part is, Fiats trying to equip the car exactly as you see it here. Sunroof included!

@ Fiat : Please get rid of the cheesy body stickers.

These variants of the Punto & Linea were probably present only to be clinic'ed (receive market feedback). Both were LHD imports.

The Punto CNG. Whats cool?

There is absolutely no compromise on boot space. The CNG tank is located under the boot.

Where's the spare tyre then? Well, there isn't one. A puncture repair kit is provided instead.

The Linea Automatic. Bring it on, Fiat! We are believers of AT, and the sense these transmissions make in Indian driving conditions.

Punto sport alloys are very good. Hope Fiat gves same alloys when the car is lunched in the market. But the red linings in the dash and around the gaer lever looks bit over the top.

Hope Fiat annouces the lunch dates and prices in the Auto expo itself.

Good show GTO. Great pictures too. And yes !!! Finally T-Jet Linea has arrived. Punto sports also looks good. As GTO said, they have to remove the stickers. Sunroof is too good and the car looks awesome with that. Hope FIAT will train their service engineers too so that it can be well supported over years.

finally much much awaited FIAT stall deatils. thanks GTO for details. So its not 90 BHP Punto as mentioned every where. I am sure Fiat wont sell sport with those wacky stickers.

what is the expected premium over existing Punto?

could not read the profile of Punto tyre. kindly post the profile.

Thanks again for great pics!

I am in love with G.punto this car surely is best looking hatch in india.Look at those alloys they are just fantabulous

Why not a petrol sports version with a better engine specs?i guess their are many people who are interested in buying a petrol including me even if the efficiency aint that good.

Apart from the MJD VGT engine, any other tweaks in the Punto Sport? Stiffer springs would be nice. Fiat have overdone the red theme. Production version needs to be more subtle.
