Wow, check out the quality of plastic on the steering and the column(3rd pic). Looks like a DIY without proper tools.

Temp Gauge gone too!!

The temperature gauge seems to be missing too. Has it gone with this version or was already doen away with in pre BS4. Mine 2007 Alto does have it, so comparing to that.

And those stickers, I guess they had already replaced the emblems on the Alto base (Standard ??) version. Have seen many on road. must have saved a good 150 ruppes I guess.

The good ol' temperature gauge is gone! And yes, the stickers and seat fabric look really cheap.

Nothing to go gaga over it. Typical Suzuki playbook upgrades. When they launched BS3 they did something like this. They could have added a tacho. Honestly i don't like the new instrument panel.

Alto always had speedo till 180. OT: Alto 1.1 is capable to touching 165 on the speedo!

I really have to thank t-bhp for saving me from this c**p car. I was actually waiting for the BS-4 alto thinking it would be with the K-Series engine but sanity prevailed after posting on t-bhp and went for Spark.

Am i mighty happy with my decision. The BS-4 alto looks the same. The center console looks cheaper than the previous version, so do the steering and the steering column. But i like the new instrument console.

On another thread it was stated that it comes with tubeless tires as standard now.. Is it true??

If they made F8D BS-IV, why not the Wagon-R's 1.1L F10D engine made BS-IV compliant? Because, it is the same engine with one additional cylinder. Any auto engineer can give some light into this?

Oh! is this what I waited for since the past 8 months? I missed out on the Alto Xcite as well . Looks really cheap and is it going to be cheap to buy too? They should not have excluded the temperature gauge atleast - i know of two instances where brand new Altos had overheating problems while climbing uphill. If Maruti continues with the same price tag as the BS-3 version, Spark will be even more VFM!

I dont think the price will be increased . I think MSIL might bring down the existing prices as the 800 has been phased out . I think the price of the new alto will be lower than what it sold for . may be a price cut of 30,000 for the base model should price it on par the 800 pricing standards.

I Dont Understand Why A Big Fuss Out Of This !!!

This Is Typical Maruti Way Of Doing Things, And Every Time They Do This They Succeed. This Will Basically Attract First Time Buyers.

Even Though There Are No Major Changes, This Alto Will Still Clock 22000+ Monthly Volumes

Alto Is Now Janta's Car. And Is Way Far Better Than Nano !!!!

I Feel Marutis Quality Is Acceptable, Thats Why Indians Love Maruti's

Even Though They Have Cut The Costs, Its Still Appealing.

I Would Def Go For One

At least they should have attempted to change the design of that tailgate lock to something more contemporary...

@PCS, the sales of Alto is falling steeply, and the i10 is catching up. The difference between the 2 cars is now less than 2000 I think. Please read the March 2010 sales analysis thread for more info.

Though I also would love to see a price cut of 30,000, I don't think that will be the case because 800 is still going to be sold other than metros and they also will be selling the BS-IV Alto in those cities and hence will maintain the price difference of about 70K between 800 and Alto. Let us wait and see . BTW, any news from when the car is going to be in the showrooms?

Great scope sir once again...
But the changes made are for the worst and not for better, as you would expect. The interiors look very cheap, even cheaper than the Nano, especially the music system slot.
So are we expecting a major price cut from Maruti, bring it in the range of 800, considering it being discontinued from 13 cities.

this is worse than the current version. The tires look yaak! and just plastic stickers for the car emblems! How much would a chrome "alto" plate cost? for me this looks like going backwards. This is not progressive.

anyway, it would still clock >20k even without any push from maruti, and they would not worry a damn penny for what we say here.

Does not look good...
Dashboard is worser than in the nano !!!
May be the engine has become better on performance and FE.
That should compensate for all these skimping..
