Mini Xylo- 5 Seater, Under 4m, >1500cc

Mahindra is developing a mini version of the utility vehicle Xylo. The new mini UV is under 4 meters in length and will come with a under 1500cc 3cylinder diesel to qualify for the small car excise norms. It will be a 5 seater and is expected to go on sale sometime in 2011. It is predicted to be priced close to 5 lakh Rupees.

Thats a neat pick! and it does not look all that bad. i think they have a market if they price it sensibly with all bells and whistles. perhaps this would have lesser body roll probably.

Looks more like the elder brother of the same boxy WagonR , however a 1500 diesel mill is sure a welcome move in the Indian Market.
Is M&M planning an entry into the hatchback segment at all ?

nice. the tyres look smaller too. but wont this hurt the xylo customers?

IMO, mahindra should NOT go the TATA way. first the indica, then the indigo, then marina, then indicab, then indogo CS! next was the vista followed by the manza.

mahindra's strength was it had different vehicles targeted for different customers with different needs. sure, with the mini-xylo, they will cut down on production costs but then i feel it would hurt the brand.

No,it cannot be,because the Xylo doesn't even have the semblance of a SUV.Its a proper MUV.And moreover this mini Xylo seems to have the makings of a big stupid looking hatchback.

What exactly is the USP of this vehicle. More space than the other hatchbacks? Uglier than all the others? People here have been talking about a new segment. I fail to understand what that would be? Its a hatch. Nothing more.
Any why to use a 3 cylinder diesel when the Logan diesel is less than 1.5 l and can be tuned for 100 BHP as in the Duster.

I think this is an Interesting move by Mahindra to almost introduce a new category, I dont think there is any vehicle currently in this segment in India other than the Primitive Rio. Abroad, there are many CUVs available but not in India.

This surely has a potential to be a big success provided Mahindra plays its cards optimaly. Also, this might also start eating up volumes of lower priced proper MUVs/SUVs (I mean their base versions).

Time for MUL to bring in the Jimny.

Nice attempt. Not sure of the rear quarter glass though.
