The launch of the limited edition is a good news . IIRC the Swift Glam was launched just 2 months before the arrival of the Swift 1.2 K-series.
Going by the same law, the new swift may be around the corner and hit the showrooms in 2-3 months.

Highly unlikely! Without even tuning / adjusting the suspension & engine for the Indian conditions, they can't launch a model as it is! We are yet to see a scoop pic of the car running in India.

Also, note that the EuroNCAP norms are not applicable in India, so Maruti will launch never it with the same crash energy management systems (the BIW front & rear ends as well as the foams used for pedestrian safety). They will definitely remove those and / or replace with cheaper, lighter, cost effective components to bring the costs down. It will also increase the mileage, the USP of most Maruti vehicles.

The EuroNCAP needs offset frontal, side impact, whiplash & pedestrian safety norms as mandatory. Also a good Thatcham rating (bumper systems, security systems for insurance evaluation) is required for selling in European markets. All these (except for the thatcham like rating) are just in finalised draft state in India. So no need to basically give these same car here. Believe me, as long as a car safety requirements are not made mandatory by Indian authorities, no car maker will provide them. Even items like floor carpets, seat fabrics, NVH pads, immobiliser systems, etc. are pretty different from the ones they would use in their european counter parts. Equal part in the blame lies with us, as we people are 'OK' with cheaper options rather than demanding best quality. In the end for a car maker, it is a business call rather than a ethical call; no one would favour the latter any day!

Highly unlikely. If Maruti could get VGT, they would have probably plonked it in SX4. If it is true, then maybe the old swift and the new one will co exist at different price points.

Well, going by the cacophony of comments, perhaps in Mar-Apr 2011, we will be able to see the new swift for sure.

Keep dreaming. The car has already been launched at some places and comes with the same 75 bhp multijet engine.

There is an improved diesel expected in early 2011 in the very same markets. However, at present it is the same diesel & new 93 PS petrol in these countries.

I don't think Maruti will sell both the models. I guess they will phase out the older swift!

Hope that is authentic information. And is most likely going to be the case. Many people surely cant wait that long. Also cant settle for an outgoing model. I feel increased inclination (from within) to alternatives (from other manufacturers surely), rather than settling with the old model about to go. Again a case of neglect by suzuki to the most important market for swift.

Bye Bye swift??? Welcome ......... (who?)
