Some 76K-odd Omni's were sold as per Sushil's charts.

Man, that is quite some number for something that is in the last stage of its life-cycle. I did not know so many people were buying the Van.

Most of the demand comes from the commercial segment and ambulances etc. Nothing more spacious available at that price and durability.

I too found it very funny that the Omni will be axed even with that 76K number while the Versa with 1440 is its replacement. :-).

@immortalZ - sorry missed your response didn't see it till now - the Linea still doesn't show a significant volume of sales just yet (esp since it just started its sales cycle). Am sure it will figure strongly in next years numbers.
Also another thought I had was that the Bolero is also probably having numbers boosted by tourist/cabbie type sales also. Also saw an article that the Innova was also supported to an extent of 20% of sales volume by the commercial segment.

the bolero sells the most in rural areas, hence the high numbers. these folks dont prefer a scorpio or safari. they like the bolero of its rugged ability on their non-existent roads. also, many government officials (RTO/BMC) in mumbai are provided with boleros.

Honda sales for april'09

Car maker Honda Siel India on Friday reported 7.53 per cent rise in its sales at 3,656 units in April against 3,400 units in the
year-ago period. The sales comprised 2,801 units of flagship sedan City, 625 units of premium sedan and 171 units of luxury sedan Accord, the company said in a statement.

Well, City seems to have taken a steep hit after selling 6000 in march. Maybe the price rise effect?

Wow, thats quite a dip in their sales. Should be attributed to price increase and Linea(maybe).

Yep, the price rise it seems to be. The city does feel a tad overpriced. Although it may have its plus points over the linea, but the linea will make any potential city buyer think with its value for money offer.

Too early to say if it's the price rise effect. If it's price rise then we should see higher sales of competitors. Looking at Fiat's limitation in delivering Emotion pack Linea's, we should see a spike in SX4 or Fiesta sales. Or maybe Fiat recieved more orders for the Linea and we will see better sales in May for Linea as Fiat continues to ramp up production. However, there are two things here:

1.) I have been seeing a lot of Linea adverts on TV which had stopped for a couple of months. I feel Fiat is also feeling the pressure on sales and hence the re-release of Linea adverts.

2.) I don't think a prospective Honda owner is going to stoop down to a Fiat.

I still feel that price rise will not impact Honda sales at all. I will also be very happy if I am proved wrong.

2801 units of City , surely the price hike and Linea affect. ANHC S MT is around 9.60 lacs OTR in my city after price hike. It should be around 10 lacs in few cities. Surely on the higher side. Would like to see how many units Linea has sold.

Maruti's had a 9% Y-O-Y sales growth, and is enjoying the 4th straight month of more than 70,000 cars sold (71,748 in April).

- M800 down by a whopping 47%!

- Omni & Versa pretty much the same @ about 7,700 sold.

- A2 (Alto, WagonR, Swift, A-Star) 9% growth (for a total of 46,817 cars)

- C segment : 70% upswing for the SX4 + Dzire (7066 sedans)

- Guess which gave them the largest growth percentage? Surprisingly the Gypsy + Vitara UV's for a total of 905 (versus 68 in April 2008)!! Fresh institutional orders for the Gypsy?
