Well 4000 odd SX4s right now in the whole country compared to a much larger number of City's (remember the City was launched way earlier?). So thats why you dont see too many on roads.

The figures for May including Esteem is a whopping 5009. So the SX4 did sell enormously in May.

Check this out Maruti Udyog Ltd: Maruti 800, Alto, Zen, Wagonr, Versa, Esteem, Baleno, Grand Vitara, Gypsy, finance, insurance, accessories, true value, fleet management solutions

One Interesting numbers.

MUL's June 2007 A3 segment sales thats Baleno (I think MUL website mean SX4) and Esteem combines sold 3923 units,

MUL's May 2007 A3 segment sales was 5009 thats the month SX4 was launched.

So this means sales dip in June 2007 in A3 segment, MUL didn't specify how much units of esteem and SX4 seperately.

So still no clear figures about June 2007 sales of SX4.

Regards,

Ravi.

Me and Ajo saw 3 SX4s during our Chennai-tbhp drive to Mahabs last Sunday.

And some 10 Civics. The Civic is becoming so common on the roads.

I see a lot of SX4s on the roads. The problem is similar to the Verna in that - you need to look carefully because the SX4 doesn't stand out. It looks similar to the Swift from the front and to the Verna from behind.

The chrome strips on the bonnet and on the boot are what help it stand out. If the sunlight reflecting off these strips doesn't catch your eye, it then becomes yet another Swift / Verna in the crowd.

Ask Hyundai about Estilo..It has literally stolen the thunder from Santro... Its now a 2 headed battled for Hyundai when it comes to tackling Maruti..

Maruti make huge profits out of the Estilo 'cause most of the pieces are from WagonR. I really don't think Estilo is a flop. Atleast its too early to call it..

A closer look at the numbers above reveal that in June 2007 both NHC and SX4 have dropped in numbers, though SX4's is more drastic. The interesting part would be who is the "dark horse" that has stolen the numbers from both of them or did the segment as a whole shrink in June compared to May.

What's interesting is the quotes from both the companies. Both are putting the blame on their shutdowns and not on the competition. One thing is for sure, such competition is what is required for the Indian consumer. Such competition will get better value for lesser price.

I think maruti's sales are low because they can only make so many cars every month.
