Good designs will always have imitations, but that does not take anything away from the original. I think, all the comments of G-wagen looking like Sumo / Bolero etc. are because the imitations were doing rounds in India for years, and the original came in only now.

The previous generation Hyundai Sonata was heavily influenced from Jag S-Type, but that does not make the Sonata comparable to the Jag.

In future, if the Mini Cooper is launched in India, its quite possible to have reactions like "the shape looks a bit like Suzuki Swift"

While Mercedes-Benz continues to make improvements to what is perhaps the most un matched vehicle in the world and now includes G65 AMG which in terms of price goes above even a Ghost. But to come to point do take a look at this video, was performed by Mercedes.

Again shows how capable it is, but though i like the AMG versions, i would still go for the base versions with diesel engines that are still in sale in Europe, especially Spain,Italy where you get anything from open top to wagon to pick up version and with a range of engines(both petrol and diesel) and transmissions.
Along with the AMG version, Merc India could also put the 420cdi at around 60-70lacs and see the sales though it's 5 seater and percieved to be 'boxy' and 'dated'.

Met the mighty G stuck in BLR traffic near Hebbal. Was growling (lovely sound) but totally fruitlessly at the myriad autos and 2 wheelers.

Was followed for some distance by a maniac Volvo cum Audi Toofan driver, who no doubt wanted to bang on the G's window to ask where he had modded his SWB Toofan .
