Here are the details shared by him :
  • Chevrolet Beat D will be launched on July 15
  • Chevrolet Beat D will be launched in Kerala on July 30
  • On road price in Kerala :
    • The base version costs Rs 4.5 lakhs
    • The top-end version costs Rs 5.9 lakhs (with ABS and Airbags)
    • There is a version which costs Rs 5.5 lakhs (with NO ABS and NO Airbags)
  • The car can be booked by paying Rs 50k
PS: Strangely, I failed to ask him whether there will be an AT version or not.

Rs. 5.9 Lakhs..? Is it Ex showroom price..? I was expecting the on-road price below 6 lacs. If it is ex-showroom price it is pricy. Ford FIGO will be a better option. The on-road price should not exceed more than 6 Lakhs for the Car to be better VFM than FIGO.

Yes, I shared the On-Road Price and had explicitly mentioned the same in my post too. :)

I missed the "on-road" price part first and was about to ask you whether its OTR or not. I guess the "bold" prices took away the lime light from the "on road price in Kerala" part.:D

The price looks yummy & also on par with the 10-15% speculation I guess. The top end D with ABS & Airbags still undercut the Swift VDi ABS by a good 20K I guess and with more features. Guess it should sell decent numbers.

I guess the variants are

Superb News there, now this means that the is also a 80,000 difference between the P and D versions. If i am not wrong the figo D costs about 6.4 OTR Mumbai so there is about a 50,000 margin there as well. Superbly priced

I apologize i too have not seen the "on-road". Its an excellent price. NDTV in there CNB show mentioned the Car Styling and Engine give a "ready to go" kind of attitude. Only things stopping me to go and book this Car (as i am in search of a new Hatchback) is its rear styling and the upcoming Maruti Swift.

:OT Went to Popular Maruti to have a look on Maruti Swift. They told that the new Swift may be launched by Aug 2011 end. If i am booking diesel Swift today the waiting period will be 4 months and i will be delivered with "New Swift". But Sales person has no idea about ZDI version.

Although the prices are spot on,but usually the difference between variants is in the range of 50k in small cars. Here the price difference between base and the next trim is a whopping 1.40 lacs. Is there a variant in between?

That is a good observation, i think the base version must be the PS which costs 4.5 lakh while the next version the LS must be in the range of 5-5.2 lakhs.

In Beat P the versions in ascending order are PS, LS , LT and LT(o)

In Kolkata:

Probable launch date of Beat Diesel is in the last week of this month.

OTR of LT variant with option pack 5.94 lacs (no discount, as expected)

OTR of Figo Titanium Diesel 6.15 lacs (after discount of 10,000/- it comes to 6.05 lacs)

Dear members, what is your advice, which one to choose?

Sallubhai, let the official prices be announced and the official t-bhp report be out, it will be easier for you to decide. One point though, figo will be anyday more spacious.

At that price, with ABS and Airbags (alloys?), the Beat makes a very good case for itself. However, the small engine and unknown power/weight ratio makes it a bit of a gamble.

Also, if your requirement is four/five people plus luggage, the Beat is out. If you generally travel alone or as a couple, with (very) occasional guests, then the Beat would seem to suit your requirements.

Once the performance figures are out, you will be able to make a more informed decision. Also don't forget to check about the 3year zero cost maintenance package from Chevy (whether that is included in the price or not).

is it GM Motors some kind of dealership of GM or General Motors the company itself? Very strange that i have been reading news of launch happening around 28th-29th of July in news article. Dont think any dealer will have an idea of final price 20 days in advance. Also you may want to clarify whether it is Ex-showroom or OTR prices. To me it looks like Ex-showroom.:D

May be it's Geeyam Motors Pvt Ltd, Chevy's dealer in Kerala.
Anyway its too early to announce the price.

GM (General Motors) dealer in my home town is GM (German Motors):D

Nice pricing strategy for the base variant. Hope it will help them to sell 4-5K units per month.

I had been to a hotel called Ramada in Navi Mumbai close to a GM dealership where GM has booked a hall for training regarding the launch of Beat D. Saw 2-3 beat D for the first time.

I think the on-road price of VDi ABS should be slightly lower than 5.9 L . Still, I agree that the Beat top version should be much better loaded than that.
