Senior - BHPian ![]() | ![]() hey cannot see the pic...but the best thing about a S1 with greenish tint glasses and the floor-gear was its exhaust ....had this lady driver in our area who used to drive for miles in 1st or 2nd ...so used to listen to that music every morning |

Still have a 1967 one lying around in Kolkata with an auto-enthusiast friend, had not been able to bring it to Delhi when we moved because of the emission norms etc; he now wants my permission to junk it since no insurance company is covering it and registration cannot be renewed. Told him NO-NO as I have too many good rev-happy memories of that car - what with the headers and the through pipe! Learnt all my tricks on that car, seems sad that I may have to let it go now.......

BHPian ![]() | ![]() had driven it for a month when my car broke down and had to adjust with this, and my god! well, its a good example of how far technology has come today. when we see todays cars we see few changes, but then after sitting in the Fiat, i realised how good the changes are in the latest cars ![]() |

No need to plonk a real v6 for the sound. ![]() the 1.0L or 1.1L engine under the hood makes noise like a v6 but is as FE as a maruti wagonR 1.1 ![]()

Senior - BHPian ![]() | ![]() I will own one one day. Always been a huge fan, and keep telling my dad he should never have sold off the beautiful white example he used ro drive. My favourite feature of it is the exhaust note and the looks. When sporting a tuned exhaust, it could see off almost all cars on indian roads today as far as acoustics are concerned. One day, I shall own one. I've always said that. |

Senior - BHPian ![]() | ![]() I would just want my baby fiat1100 back. One of the most reliable car it was with a good FE and excellent exhaust note that most fiats had those days. |

| ![]() does anyone remember late EDDIE GURRERO the WWE artist bringing out those absolute stunning lowriders ...i can forsee that kinda car in contessa if done well..take out the old engine and smut in a V6 that makes sme serious noise ...go bk to the old school paint shops and apply cool metallic shades and bump it up by fitting in strong long suspensions...and lastly take the roof off and let it spin .. |

Senior - BHPian ![]() | ![]() Took me in to the past. My Dad owned a Padmini for a few years from 1988-1993. I wished to learn driving on this car but couldn't. Used to see it in my town till a few years ago. |

| ![]() Premier Padmini was one of the best car available in India at one time. I learnt to drive on this car. We had it for 13 years! It's good points were: * RWD * Steering mounted gearshift (so hand has to travel less) * Practical (can sit 5 + boot) * frugal (consistently got 10 km/L till the end in city) * Excellent front visibility. The entire bonnet could be seen from drivers seat - so no "guessing" during parking and bumper to bumper movement. * Easy to manoeuvre * Any roadside mechanic could fix its probelems |

| ![]() The last Fiat i remembered my family had was in 1992- or so, it had stock bucket seats and floor gears, it was a premium model or something. It was probably our 6th odd fiat over the years. We always had 1 ambassador and one fiat then when the contessa made it's appearance the ambassador was changed for the same............However the fiat always remained with us, well at least till we bought the first Maruti 1000.......... Ah those were the days, less cars to choose from ......no features!! no pulling out hair, getting stark raving mad, when buying a car. ![]() |
