Here is the group pictures of us standing in queue to get registered and another one is posing for the camera. There is Mukund the champion before take-off and gto at a turn.

Some more random pics of other cars which were well prepped for the mission that RTI supports through these rallies.

The drive was great fun and also gave a close insight into the how the visually challenged tackle their daily lives.

As usual lovely meeting fellow bhpians and eagerly awaiting the next occasion to get together responsibility of which was assumed by our very own dear Aditya

Cheers

Re: Charitable Sunday Drive : The 2016 Blind Man Car Rally (Mumbai) on 24th January

Hello

A late login to see the day's pictures. It was fun as is always is. Mukund did a fantastic job of listening to his navigator on his first attempt. Congrats!

I was paired with young Shahbaaz Khan. At first he was boggled with what he had to do, poor chap was in for the first time. After the start he started getting the hang of it, and an hour later the fellow was so tired of reading that his supportive father had to push him to read on, on the return leg.

Good to meet some of the usual suspects and a few new ones.

Last Year we had corporate teams participate as ONE-DAY GET TOGETHER at NSCI for a noble cause (5-10 Cars).
This is a great HR initiative and has been adopted by corporate like Arthveda, Platinum Corp, EZYMOV, TEAM BHP etc.

It is a great TEAM BUILDING and FAMILY BONDING event. The event helps team to connects to the Blind navigator and the less privileged sections of the society. This brings a sense of responsibility towards the society. The event is recognised to give an emotional satisfaction to all participants.

By participating in 5-10 Cars, we have 5-10 families /15-30 team members participate the event. (2500X10 = 25,000 / - of which 50% exemption under 80G). The members get goodie bags with snacks and lunch for all members at NSCI post the rally.

We look forward to your TEAM / FAMILY / FRIENDS to support our initiative as you stood strong during our 10th Edition.

Please see below a short note about the Round Table and the Car Rally.

Introduction to Round Table India (RTI)
Round Table India is a member of Round Table International which is present in 65 countries over the world. RTI has over 2500 members spread over 75 cities/towns across India. The age group of RTI member is 25-40 yearsand are highly placed Professional, SME owners etc.

Round table India is a “Zero Overhead Organisation” i.e. all the money that is received as donation is used toward the projects. No donation money is being used for administrative or any other expenses. The long term project of RTI is “Freedom through Education” wherein we build schools for underprivileged children. Till now RTI has built approx. 2172 school, 5377 classrooms benefitting more than 6 million children.

About the Car Rally for the Blind (BMR)
RTI has been organizing BMR since last 10 years. This is a unique rally wherein 100+ cars participate every year. The driver is the main participant whereas a Visually Impaired person is the Navigator. The entire route of the Rally is written in Brail and the participant drives the car as per the instruction of Visually Impaired Navigator. The rally distance is approximately 45-50 kms spread across Mumbai.

It is an event where the entire family and friends of the participants can occupy the backseat of the car. Thus on the day of rally we have almost 250-400 people present at the event. The general profile of the participants is Professionals and SME owners.

We have had celebrities like Ajay Devgan, Asin, Dilip Vengsarkar, Mahesh Manjrekar, Aditya Thakrey, Prahlad Kakkar, Shaina NC, Mukesh Khanna, Anand Shivamani, Amruta Fadnavis etc to flag off the rally in the past.

The Blind Man Car Rally is now a National initiative of Round Table India. Last year it was hosted in more than 20 cities across India on the same date.

All put together, this makes a remarkable opportunity for us to serve the society and give it back in 2 ways:
1. The funds raised and saved through this is to the last paisa used to build schools for underprivileged children.
2. The event itself boosts tremendous confidence among the blind (visually impaired) participants.

Look forward for your participation & Support

Warm Regards,

Tr. Lokanathan Nadar
