You decide - Make your own drag race classes & rules

You Decide!

Well, we all have our own opinions on how the classes for drags should be divided. Some want more restrictions in place, more control over what is run, NOS to be in a seperate class, etc.

So, think about it properly, consider not only the participants viewpoint, but also the organisers', who have a fixed time schedule to run within. They cannot run 20 different classes or they would never finish an event. Also, the rules have to be simple enough for everyone to understand.

Lastly, remember the whole point of the drag...TO HAVE FUN! So lets not get too professional just yet!

Lets hear what T-BHP has to say about running a drag. And please, think about what you write here as you never know who may be reading this!

I THINK THEY NEED TO HAVE SEPARATE CLASSES FOR N.A. AND FORCED INDUCTION CARS. also nos should be banned as ..it is not allowed all over the world.
otherwise the classes are pretty ok when it comes to cc and other specs.
its just my opinion guys...

Using NOS makes it very complicated. Technically, the engine is still Naturally Aspirated, since air is not forced into the cylinders, but NOS is. So why is it that TC and SC cars have the multiplication factor and NOS cars don't? Or do they? Either ways, NOS should be banned.

Yup i agree, NA and FI cars should be run seperately. It's not always accurate to multiply their cc by 1.4 for TC and 1.6 for SC. Na is NA, lets keep them away from the rest.

A TC or SC car does not work like a NA engine of higher capacity.

yeah it really sucks to see people with NOS competing with those without NOS.
instead all nOS cars shud be run in a separate larger group.
like 1l-1.6l group.

They should have an Indian open for both bikes and cars ...it would be nice to see the bikes going against the cars...esp from a spectators point of view

That would make it even more cofusing since most tuned cars don't have a definate bhp read out. How many cars do you think are dyno tested? Not many!!

Can't do that due to the safety concern.

Picture this: An opne class bike will be faster than an open class car. So, the bike is ahead of the car on the strip. Now, worst case scenario, the biker has a problem and falls, sliding into the next lane where the car is flying right towards him. I don't think I need elaborate on the consequences!

Suggestions For Upcomming Speed Run

Fellow racing enthusiasts and team bhp members , i guess we should put in our suggestions for the upcomming speed run , at the end of it some senior tbhp members could convey this to the organisers and we could hope of having a peacefull drag.

1.Avoid cars and bikes from being taken down the strip on either sides which would prevent stunts and dangerous dragging and dust kicking up, install baricades and strict security norms

2.keep an entry fee and if possible put stands from start to finish , a fee of 100 would be ideal and any racing freak would not have a problem to pay and have fun keeping inmind safety for all

3.have more security personnel

4.run the big bikes at noon or late morning when the crowd is energetic and wanting to see action, running it at the end of the day when crowd gets restless and wants up close viewing could result in crowd comming in or creating trouble

what needs to be done is :
1. run the foreign bikes and cars class first thing in the morning when the crowd is less to maintain crowd behaviour..
2. collect an entry fee so as to not to allow jerks to get onto the unwanted scenes..
3. organisers need to make sure that the schedule can be tinkered around it..was very dissappointing to see us run on a completely wet track..the entire thing could have been postponed..it just resulted in dissppointed timings and excessive wheelspins(who better to know about this than psycho who was the 1st to run on a wet track)..
4. from the start line to the finish make stepped stands like we have in cricket grounds and put chairs on..that way all can see whats happening clearly on the track and avoids the chaos of running on the track..thats another reason to collect an entry fee..
5. lastly get someone to teach those nuts who were practising on the either sides of the track to show off their skills that to prove thier talent on the strip and not off it...

lol..

NOS cars should be clubbed in diff category and run, and they still dont have any multiplication factor.. then again almost all the guys are going NOS way lol..

naturally aspirated moded cars another car, to do justice to a tuners hard work..

Ok, we've cribbed long and hard...so hopefully someone in charge somewhere reads this thread and does something...

My suggestions:

1. MAI...PLEASE BUY YOUR OWN LIGHTS. The level of accusations against some people have reached such heights that the announcer had to shout out thrice that the timings cannot be tampered with.

2. MAI...please have paid scrutineers. I don't know who does it now, but there are always whispers.

3. Barricade the track. Period. 15ft high wire mesh like Indian cricket stadiums.

4. Run the fun classes in the morning. SBK and import classes. It's not too much fun to have a 180bhp bike, and the one time you pay to blast it legally, you get shot down by some local jackass prancing around the track.

5. TIMING SLIPS. With RT and 60 ft times and the whole deal.

6. Do what they do at the illegals. Run nitrous powered cars in the 2 litre plus class, or the open class. Or just bloody ban it.

yes its high time something is done about NOS by MAI..either ban it or add a multiplication factor..that way we get to see which tuner is doing what and how fast their claimed cars are..
btw another thing that i noticed was that a few cars never underwent scrutiny and i know its a piece of cake as to whose cars we are talking about here..MAI pls get ur own timing lights and make sure u get the things right and providing timing slips got to be the norm of any drag..right now there seems to be a controversy regarding the timings they announced too..

well, how about just 2 types of classes: modified and stock, in their respective displacement categories (for ex; 1300cc stock, 1300cc mod. etc.)

rules should be like thus: you tamper around with turbo, cams, NOS, kerb weight (like those nuts who came down with barenaked esteems, zens, etc. with no doors, trunks, or seats) you come in the mod. category, in the respective engine displacement classification. there could be any mods in the mod category- for example, a 1300cc turbo esteem will compete with another 1300cc modded car; no multiplication factors or blah blah...

but for all this, FIRST: the speed run should be extended to at least 4 days- there should be preliminary rounds to take out the best of the best, and let them race on the weekends; that way, the participants' numbers aren't restricted, and everybody gets to be happy...and yes, propah slips for ET, RT, TS etc. please...
