Time Speed Distance (TSD) rally is not about speed but about team work and navigation. Driven within legal speed limits the format allows you to enjoy the rally and the areas you drive through. Learn how to navigate with minimal penalties.

Location for the 5th December camp: Hotel Sarovar Portico
Near Suraj Kund / Badarpur / Charmwood Village
Link for location: Express Sarovar Portico Hotel - Faridabad - India - With &ReviewNumber1 guest reviews

The fourth training camp for TSD Navigation and orientation was held on 05 Decmber 2010. Three people from outstation could not turn up due to weather so we had seven people attending the camp.

No longer surprised that training in efficient use of simple calculator ends up taking about 50% of the time. This involves examples and personalised help from faculty (hehehe me and Alka) and participants till all become reasonably proficient at it. This is followed by a rally simulation. Trivial? But this is one area that ends up helping the participants in a TSD keep their penalties lowest.

The balance time goes in to discussing navigation techniques and tricks and general preparations for the target event. Discussions on rules and regulation, GPS use, team interaction etc. are taken up depending on the group needs.

Next camp will be in January 2011.

I attended this camp with my navigator, and it was a wonderful experience! While it was great re-visiting the calculator, learning road book signs, meeting other participants (and of course, Sudev and Alka), listening to their experiences, learning tips etc.; what I was most happy about was that my navigator came out of the camp confident that we could actually be competitive in Desert Storm. Sudev has had a great track record of his students doing well, hopefully we won't let him down

I would also like to express my heartfelt appreciation of Sudev's effort. It's not easy giving up one's Sunday to be a teacher. Especially when the incentive is intangible - may be some pride/happiness when people who you have trained do well. Obviously he does it because of his passion for the sport. And I think these camps are a great platform for newbies to launch themselves into the world of rallying.

Any chance of holding such a camp in Bombay?

Re: TSD Camp

Hmmmmm...possible.
Will need to cover airfare in addition to what ever else. At a single camp we'd (yes two of us do it) like to work with no more than 15 people. So it mean more or less Rs4500/head. How many takers? How many people will you bring to the table?

Also for which TSD rally? Desert Storm 11? or the Centennial one?

Re: TSD Camp

Okay so some folks have been asking if I can hold a TSD navigation training in their beloved Mumbai.

Tentatively can I get a show of hands for people willing to attend on 16th January?

Re: TSD Camp

Some quick answers of queries that I have received:

Aims of training:
I find that many, if not most, of people participating in TSD events
do not have clear idea of how to go about preparing for the same nor
they are aware what to expect. The introduction and training can help
you plan a winning strategy. Using this very methodical approach in
recent past many participants have achieved podium finishes.

Camps:
I would be conducting one day training camp each at Delhi and Mumbai
on 15th and 16th January respectively. Each camp is designed to
introduce participants to basics of TSD navigation and calculation.

Registration:
Fill in registration form at:
https://spreadsheets.google.com/view...Sll2SlFwZHc6MQ

I also would try and answer any query here.

In case you feel that there could be someone else who can benefit from such
training I would be thankful for your forward of this message.

Re: TSD Camp

Ten people have registered for Mumbai camp on 16th January. So its a go ahead.

Any suggestion for venue at Mumbai? Preferably near the airport area as I have to fly in night before and fly out afterwards. Need seating for ~15 people with projector, screen and white board. A day conference package including tea coffee lunch etc.

A friend has suggested Hotel Mirador slightly north of airport.

Hotel Mirador is a fine hotel. Its near to the airport and the place where i would be put up. You may go ahead with it.
