Spy photographers in Europe have snapped the 2016 Skoda Superb on test. Though seen under heavy camouflage in the images, the new Superb will get a lot of design inputs from the 'VisionC' concept. Rumoured updates include the option of full LED headlamps and a plug-in hybrid variant.

Looks brilliant to me though for once I feel the new Passat will turn out to be a better looking car in the end. Will reserve my judgment till the Superb is revealed. I have always loved the current Superb and I don't think the feeling will change with the arrival of this one! What I am hoping will change is my ability to buy one.

I hope they don't give the detuned version of the 1.8 TSI with the 7 speed DSG like they do in the Octavia. They should go the whole hog, probably even drop the 1.8 TSI and offer only the 2.0 TSI and TDI with DSG boxes. Manual transmission for the enthusiasts shouldn't hurt their cause.

This should cross the 30 lac price barrier I am afraid! However it looks like it will be 50 lacs luxury at 25 lacs! Can't wait!

Request to Skoda: Please get this to India soon after the international launch and don't make us salivate for a full year or more

Skoda has released the first official sketch of the 2016 Superb. The sketch shows the new Superb with a muscular bonnet and shoulder line, sleeker side view mirrors & the Skoda family front grill, while the logo sits on the bonnet lip. The car will also get day time running LEDs that run along the bottom and outer corner of the swept back headlamps.

Seems to be looking more than the current (New) Octavia. Hope there is some kind of visual difference between rather than Swift-Dzire sisters.

Skoda has released the first official design sketch of the next generation Superb. The new model will be highly influenced by the VisionC Concept and will feature a muscular hood and a prominent grille, surrounded by swept back head-lamps underlined by LED daytime running lights.

Folks at Skoda say that it is the "best Skoda ever" and will be positioned in the upper-end of the automotive mid-class. The size of the car too will be stretched as it will be based on a stretched MQB platform. The Superb will also be 75Kg lighter than its predecessor.

The engine range will include a 1.4-litre and 1.8 TSI as well as 1.6-litre and 2.0-litre diesel units. The car will be fully revealed in February and will make its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March, 2015.

Sketches are always misleading. Look at the tyre size, almost touching the arches.

While I have no doubt that they will improve the design (I am a fan of Skoda designs) it might not look as butch as the one shown in pic.

Looks neat! Skoda seems to be the Audi of yester years with smooth,elegant lines, delicate sculpting and intricate detailing at just the right places. If the Vision C is anything to go by, this should be a looker! I hope Skoda ditches that limo look of the current Superb and go for a tauter external styling. Waiting for more pics to surface

Pleasant surprise!! soothing design is surely a treat for the sore eyes!!

Familial traits are well preserved, I'm happy that the upward slanting fin on the rear door is carried well into the design, similar to that of the Octavia (rather looks better in superb), the the very unique feature of the family. Now you can't miss a Skoda even with a slightest glimpse from the side!!!

Such a big sedan definitely deserves a bigger engine, 1.8 TSI would be injustice to the car!

And the car looks way more proportional and much less bulky than the current car. And this will really threaten VW to focus much more and protect the Passat's market share.

Come to think of it, I wonder how VW is going to play their cards when the new Passat and Superb gets launched. Previously, there were some definite distinctions between the two products with the Passat more suited to the self-driven and the Superb for the chauffer-driven. Even then, the Superb ran away with the sales chart. In their new avatars, they're more similar than ever. Hope VW doesn't downplay the Superb by providing an underpowered engine, and Skoda doesn't screw themselves up with their 'legendary' A.S.S. This is going to be a great case of sibling rivalry!

Skoda reveals a bit more of the 2015 Superb through another teaser.

The launch is planned for mid-2015. There is to launch three diesel with 120, 150 and 190 hp. The petrol-engined Skoda has banished the six-cylinder and in future only be four-cylinder with turbocharger and an output of 125 hp and 280 hp offered.
