Re: 2017 Skoda Octavia Facelift unveiled

Even if Skoda does all changes/ugrades/adds more features etc.. to/in their respective vehicles, their after sales service or ASS (if you may like to call it) will be the same and will never improve. They should focus more on making customers happy with "GOOD" after sales service to increase their sales.

Re: 2017 Skoda Octavia Facelift unveiled

I like the facelift with the split headlights.

I think the BMW-esque grille has been forced on the design due to the radar for Auto Brake/Adaptive Cruise Control moving to the grille (as in the Superb). I think this new position of the radar is better. In my car it is located on the lower part of the front bumper where it is more susceptible to getting blocked due to something getting stuck on the lower bumper during driving (like leaves in the fall or snow, although neither has happened to me so far).

I am in 2 minds. While I don't t like the split concept, I do like the enhanced DRLs as I think the existing homogenous ones are neither here nor there. They are too bright and a bit plane jane compared to the stylish ones now available.

I also like the scope for extra light power as I am very disappointed with the current ones. They are no match for our unruly high beam specialists.

I think if they don't get the advanced radar stuff to India they will retain the current grill and avoid that ugly box.

Re: 2017 Skoda Octavia Facelift unveiled

Wow that looks really strange. Normally Skoda makes the facelifts look better, but not so in this case.

Also looks like the 1.8tsi is being phased out with the facelift, so people who want a 1.8tsi better jump on them now!

I think Skoda was asked by master VW to stop producing better looking cars than VW and Skoda had to do this design blasphemy.

Just like how some bosses couldn't stand employees bettering them.

+1 to that. I hate the split headlamps. I must admit that the previous Octavia looked too simple, especially in the lower variants(which lacked the bi-Xenons).

It looks ugly head on. I hope Skoda takes it's own sweet time to bring this to India. Apart from the addition of better ICEs, I don't see why anybody in India should be looking forward to this facelift. For some reason, it looks like a throwback to the German and swedish cars in the 90s.

IMO it looks worse from the front three quarter angle.

The headlights really look out of place. It looks like Skoda wanted to do a POC for how to cut headlight into two. The current one looks f-a-r better.

Re: 2017 Skoda Octavia Facelift unveiled

In my opinion, the current generation Octavia (A7) has a timeless design. Despite being 3 years old, the car still looks stunning and is almost always noticeable on the road.

In such a situation, making any changes to the design, however minor it may be, appears to be a case of fixing something that is not broken. While some change is inevitable to convey a message of newness to the buying populace, I guess the designers over at Skoda would've had a tough time deciding on how to take the current design forward.

I wouldn't say that the new design is better than the old. It may appeal to some but I'm personally not a fan of the split headlamp design. At the end of the day design is something very subjective and everyone tends to have an opinion.

On the other hand, the changes to the interior are very welcome. The 9.2 inch head unit will sure have a big positive impact on usability. Just hoping this finds it's place in the Indian variants.

A big thanks to Skoda for deciding to continue with the 1.8 TSI and not going the Audi way of smaller displacement. The current 1.8 is easily one of the best in this class of sedans and simply addictive.

Not a fan of the face lift design. But saw the below rendering while scrolling through Google images the other day. It somehow manages to hide a lot of the quirkiness when in VRS clothes. Considering the fact that these cars look much better in flesh than pics, it might not be as bad as it seems. Still, they could have done a lot better with the facelift for sure.

Pathetic facelift indeed. They should have just reworked the bumpers and rear taillights. It the rear side where its a bit bland.

For those who don't care/don't like the new design, now is a really good time to pick up yours.

I bought mine less than a week ago and god handsome discounts on the Octavia 2.0 TDi Manual Transmission.

Re: 2017 Skoda Octavia Facelift unveiled

Yes, the old one looks better. The current Octavia in black looks gorgeous on road. I love the subtleness of the current design. Just like our first Octavia here.

But I think this facelift will grow on us as the changes are not that drastic.

And, it looks like Skoda is also not feeling very confident about the facelift. Most pictures and the video released till now are all very dark.
