They can build good reliable cars and are trying to spice up the looks which is good.

Since there own Kia has the good looking Forte, why dont they bring it in against the likes of Civic?

Ofcourse future expectations and judging by the latest pics they will remain expectations only for Sonata

Its a pretty nice looking car, but I cant help compare it to Lexus HS Hybrid. Except for the length and side, its almost similar.

Photoshopped 2011 Hyundai Sonata shows up in dealer ad as 2010 classified

New York dealer Atlantic Hyundai was promoting a low-ball deal on the 2010 Sonata. Problem is, the car in the photo is clearly NOT a 2010 Sonata. In fact, it appears to be a rendering of the next-generation Sonata.
Most likely the ad was laid out by an underpaid editor at the newspaper who, in the absence of a photo of the 2010 Sonata, did a quick Google image search for that term. Several photoshopped renderings including the same one in the ad, turn up on the first page of the results.

they should rename this as "Hyundai Ripoff", as mentioned by others ..clearly they have taken inspiration from toyota/lexus for this generation. The previous gen was ripped off from the honda accord and the one before that from Jag/merc.
so next generation expect Hyundai to rip off designs from the germans
never had much respect for hyundai.. well this worsens things between me and Hyundai

Official Pictures of 2011 Hyundai Sonata Leak on the Web - Carscoop

The first set of official photos of the all-new 2011 Hyundai Sonata YF made the rounds today on several Korean forums revealing more details on the mid-size sedan's styling. As predicted, Hyundai's Mazda6 and VW Passat challenger incorporates a more dramatic design language than the current model featuring a four-door-coupe-like roofline and a stubby rear-end.
The single interior photo shows the 2011 Sonata's instrument panel that houses a pair of deeply set gauges separated by small color screen.

this design looks very good and futuristic, just like the ANHC. This will be one of the best diesel sedans on this side of 20L

On a lighter note, can Honda expect some royalty from Hyundai.

New factory spy shots!

2011 Hyundai Sonata YF: New Factory Spy Shots and Official Details - Carscoop

Hyundai, which started taking KDM orders for its all-new Sonata on Thursday, September 3, said that at launch, the sedan will be available in Korea with a 2.0-liter Theta II four-cylinder gasoline engine linked to a 6-speed automatic transmission. With this powertain, the new Sonata delivers a combined fuel economy of 7.8 lt /100 km or 30.2 mpg US.

Needless to say that the Sonata's engine lineup will eventually grow to include a V6 gasoline and, depending on the market, with the firm's latest generation 'R' turbo diesels.

Hyundai claims that the overall comfort of its new mid-size sedan has been enhanced through the introduction of new technologies and "premium specifications" such as a panoramic sunroof, gear shift paddles attached to the steering wheel, and a push-button starting system while the Vehicle Dynamic Control will now be offered (at least in Korea) as a standard feature.

Recently read in Ward's that Hyundai is not going to launch a V6 engine on its new Sonata, which goes on sale in the US in early-2010. The new Sonata will have an upgraded version of Hyundai's 4-cyl. Theta engine with gasoline-direct injection, making Hyundai the first auto maker in the 4-cyl. midsize-sedan segment with standard GDI. Hyundai will also discontinue V6 for Tucson.

Reason: 85% of the Sonata's current-model output features a 2.4L I-4. The 3.3L V-6 accounts for the remaining 15% of Sonata production.By comparison, 76% of 2008 Honda Accords had 4-cyl. engines, while 90% of non-hybrid Toyota Camrys were equipped with 4-cyls.
