Looks quite different from the current Sonata. Reminds me of a Pontiac, looking at the wheels.

How can it be termed to be an accord beater when we hardly have any information regarding the car? Who knows what engine options may make it to India? As for the design, its camouflaged so we can't comment on it. However I wont be surprised if it turns out to be another of those 'inspired' from Euro/Jap car designs hyundai and sonata particularly is famous for.

It looks quite nice in profile. I just hope Hyundai won't screw up the front end like they do on almost every one of their cars.

Rear door has very sharp lines. Not sure whether buyer in this segment would like it (assuming that this design will make it to production).

window frames are good and curvy. The grille reminds of Altis or the latest Verna.

Accord beater is a far stretch of Imagination. In that segment people just refuse to be associated with the Hyundai badge. Case in point is the current sonata. Hyundai probably needs to go step by step i.e, come up with a good car in the C+ segment (Corolla/Civic competitor). Once the customers accept Hyundai in that segment, then Hyundai can think of going to next segment.
However capable/beautiful the new sonata may be (not very clear from spy pics), IMO it will not even be half as popular as the Accord from the mighty 'H' brand

you have a point here malgudi. People in that segment would like to associate theselves with the proven players in that segment like honda or toyota, and hyundai can only make that progress by climbin up the ladder gradually.

It looks somewhat like the Suzuki Kizashi. See the RVMs in Kizashi below & the one in the pics

Not only the ORVMs, even the basic design theme of (specially aroud the C-pillar) seems to copied from the suzuki concept. Why can't hyundai come up with some original designs? Or is it that there is only one designer penning all the cars in Asia and Europe? Hyundai has make it a habit to copy, and very much so with the Sonata.
