New Hyundai Verna Transform 2009!

Phew the Hyundai Verna terribly needs a facelift and that comes in the form of the new Hyundai Verna Transform due out in early 2010 (January) and should be showcased in the Auto Show @ Pragati Maidan. The car is already available in Korea.

However, like its younger sibling the Santro, Hyundai will not give it much of an interior face lift if at all and it will be available with the existing range of VTVT and Crdi engines. However the facelift "transforms it" from an average looking Sedan to an aggressive machine if not monster and should make a desirable option for buyers who want family sedans, although do not expect a price revision downwards if it all upwards it could be to the tune of around 1-6% more , shooting its on road price above 10.3 lakh for the diesel versions.

So the overall changes are as below:
1) Sportier front grill
2) Redesigned fog lamps
3) New rear exhausts
4) New side skirts
5) Redisigned front head lamps with 'hawk's eye look'
6) Redisigned Tail lamp cluster
7) Redisigned boot
8) Slight upward revision of price to the tune of 1-6%

Slight interior modifications:
9) More cubby holes.
10) Slightly incresed space.
11) Redisigned Dash

There are no changes expected in the engine.
Here's the pic:

The refreshed verna looks better than current version for sure but the front reminds me of the old santro.

The exterior treatment is hideous. I guess the interiors, engines and add ons will be updated soon. Petrols engines may be improved to cater to the budget subcompact segment in non european markets. New 1.4 and 1.6 fuel efficient diesels may be added to the line.

The only way this design can be described is "quirky or oddball", definitely not elegant or stylish. Ahhh!

(I hate that grill)
I agree. It is nowhere near my expectations. Thumbs down!

Yuck!!! Makes the present model look stunning.

Can't believe this came from the same manufacturer that made the i20.

Dear Hyundai, just when you've won a design award for the new sonata, and ix35 being a finalist in the competition, it is absolutely indigestible that we have to live with such an atrocious looking car, i mean the original verna was always staid looking but that doesn't mean you go and grab attention to it in this manner. In any case you will learn it the hard way and hopefully bring us the all new verna sooner rather than later

That grill is just so horrendous. I still get amazed when a car gets updated like this.
