To me, Alvis's ID:498

Official Guess the car Thread (Please see rules on first page!)-id498.jpg

looks very much like a custom coach-built 1936-1938 Alfa Romeo 8C roadster.
The custom builder could be Carrozzeria Touring or Pinin Farina or Figoni et Falaschi.

Go on Alvis, spill the beans. Im very keen to know more about this chap. Id still say it is an Erdmann & Rossi coachbuilt car.

ID:499 Make and model please.

Hope the OGTCT stalwarts will accept this as a car, and not quibble ...

1968-88 Citroën Méhari. Very hard to distinguish between model years -- they were so similar.

Just as Ram said its difficult to guess which year this mehari would be. -remember seeing a cream coloured one in delhi stc years ago. Even the tender form said "Year of manufacture not known"

What ? I didn't even know there were any Citroen meharis in India !! It's such a cool car man. :) Reminds me of the Trump cards we used to play as children !!!

ID:499 Correct Ram. Notice that I didn't ask for the model year ... precisely for the reason you've mentioned.

Karlos et all,

Would you believe that this is a 1937 MERCEDES BENZ 540 K, and no not with some fancy coachbuilder to drape the body but an inhouse design from Mercedes Sindilfingen. It was built to the exact specfications of a specfic client.

Definitely a Mercedes, 540K?

While the rest of the car screamed K series Mercedes, I figured there was no way that grille cuold have been offered. How wrong was I! Marvelous.:)

ID:500 Make and model, please.

Ummm....I love the car but I think it's beyond the rules of this thread. One-offs??

What say Karl/Ram?

Quite right Ishan. The Ford-esq grille got me. The wheels are very MErcedes and with the logo blacked out they were begging to be recognized but that grille..... so it is a one off, and so sadly does not belong here.
