ID:508 is indeed a French 1957 Talbot Lago America Coupe
Great work Alvis.
This particular car was built from 1957-58.
As the four cylinder engine of the Talbot 2500 Lago Sport, 2500cc enginenwas giving a lot of problems, it was decided that the BMW 2476cc V-8 engine (125hp) be used and the Talbot Lago America was born. 22 cars were made in 57-58 out of which the final 10 were handed over to Simca which took over the comany in 1958. These final 10 cars were fitted with the 2351cc Simca Vedette V-8 engine.
Well friends, let us open the box on ID:509.
ID:509 is a
1956-57 Frazer-Nash Continental Gran Turismo coupé.
It was designed by Pininfarina. Engines were made by BMW.
The 1956 model had a 2,430 cc V8 that put out 120 bhp @ 5,500 rpm
There was also a 2,580 cc V8 that put out 130 bhp @ 6,000 rpm. This engine also went into the 1957 model. However there was also a 3,169 cc V8 that put out 173 bhp @ 5000 rpm.
Interestingly Archibald Frazer-Nash was born in India in 1889.
He and and Ron Godfrey met at tech. college. In 1910 they founded GN (Godfrey & Nash) to build cyclecars. That shop shut in 1922. Godfrey went on to help found HRG (Henry Ronald Godfrey).
In December 1922 Frazer Nash Ltd. was created to produce a sporting variant of the GN.
Here is a page from the 1963 Observers Book of Motorcars, (edited by L.A.Manwaring).
Cars continued to be made in limited quantities up to 1960.
ID 510. Guess what this car is? blue one!

At first glance it looks like an Elfin Roadster but closer look reveals a lot of differences. Are you sure this is not a one-off custom piece Alec?

No this is not a custom hot rod.
I dont know about the blue car, but I can tell you thats a Volvo Amazon wagon in the back!:)
ID:510 Looks to me like a Volvo T6 Street Rod Concept.
Here is a hint. Its not a volvo but company is closely associated with Volvo.
ID:510 is a
2006 Caresto V8 Speedster, one of only two ever built.
Designed by Leif Tufvesson, promoter of Caresto, Sweden, it is a one-off custom hand-fabricated sport rod. It should not have been posted on this thread because it is not a production line mass-produced car.
There are only 4 of these cars. Two concept specimens of two models each.
They have hand-built:
- a one-off 2005 Caresto T6 Roadster,
- a one-off 2006 Caresto V8 Speedster (actually one red and one blue identical specimens were built). Caresto's aim is to someday build and sell at least six specimens of this model.
- a one-off 2007 Volvo C70 Caresto edition, which doesn't qualify either and
- a one-off 2008 Hot Rod Jakob.
Volvo exhibits these Hot Rod sports cars as concepts in different car shows, such as SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association).
The Scandinavian car tuning company BSR has tuned the Volvo B8444S 4.4 litre V8 to run on ethyl alcohol. It puts out 340 bhp @ 5850 rpm.
The body is hand-built in aluminium and carbon fibre. Suspension has upper and lower A-arms and Öhlin shock absorbers. The price is SEK 2,500,000.
karlosdeville: That mörk grå kombi-bil in the background is no ordinary Volvo Amazon. It is a lowered and beefed up 1967 Volvo Amazon Kombibil with a 600 bhp engine in it.
Yes, that is the VÖX-Amazon owned by Mattias Vöcks. It was voted best car to represent Sweden and its car-customisation enthusiasts at the 2006 annual SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) tradeshow in Las Vegas, NV. The owner-builder Mr. Vöcks is an employee at sports-car manufacturer Koenig.
The voting jury included the President of Volvo Cars Sweden: Thomas Andersson.

I had earlier raised similar concerns, and the mods had kindly added a set of the rules to the first post itself.
You guys have so much info on vintage cars. I am amazed actually. Is it just memory power? I am sure it requires a lot of passion.
Ram - you are really a distinguished BHPian. How come Karlosdeville is not on this thread? EDIT: OOps, he is here indeed. LOL
