Official Guess the car Thread (Please see rules on first page!)-1969hanomaghenschelf25.jpg

This was a series of small trucks, commonly called Harburger transporter in Germany. They were sold under the brand: Hanomag-Henschel as well as under the name of Mercedes-Benz.

Its history goes back to the Matador built by Tempo in Hamburg-Harburg.
Hanomag took over Tempo in 1965 and from 1966, the vehicles were produced under the name: Rheinstahl-Hanomag.

From 1969 onwards, after the parent company: Rheinstahl (means Rhine Steel) merged its two acquisitions: Hanomag and Henschel into one: vehicles were produced under the name Hanomag-Henschel.

In the next year, 1970, Daimler-Benz acquired Hanomag-Henschel and vehicles after 1970 bore the famous 3-pointed star. The Hanomag-Henschel F25 was also branded as Mercedes Benz L207. In addition to the plant in Harburg-Hamburg, they were also produced at Daimler-Benz's Borgward plant at Bremen-Sebaldsbrück.

It had a 4-cylinder Mercedes Benz OM 615.915, 1988 cc diesel engine (from the Mercedes W123), that developed 55 bhp @ 4200 rpm and 112.8 Newton-metre torque @ 2400 rpm

Early 1967 models had a Hanomag diesel engine. There were also vans powered by a British Austin 2-stroke petrol engine.

In India, we saw the 4-wheeled Bajaj-Tempo Viking 2-stroke petrol vans and the diesel OM 615 engined Bajaj-Tempo Matadors. These were built under license from Vidal & Sohn -> Hanomag-Henschel -> Daimler Benz.

ID:536 is 1924 Doble E10 steam car

ID:538. make, model & year please.

ID:538 is a 1955 DKW 3=6 typ F93 Coupé

Official Guess the car Thread (Please see rules on first page!)-1956dkwf93coupe.jpg

F stood for Frontantrieb meaning front wheel drive.
The DKW F93, a.k.a. DKW Sonderklasse was made by Auto Union AG.

Back in 1955-56, that market segment was increasingly dominated by the Volkswagen Beetle. However the DKW 3=6 had more interior space than the Beetle.

Its engine was a 38 BHP 896 cc 3-cylinder water-cooled unit mounted facing backward. That is, installed longitudinally above the front wheels, with the radiator between the engine and the passenger cabin.

Each of the three spark plugs had its own independent set of breaker-points and coil, one for each cylinder. The breaker points were mounted in a cluster around a single lobed cam at the front end of the crank shaft -- i.e. facing the rear because of the unusual mounting. Also at the front end of the crank shaft was a belt driven fan.

This engine was called a 3=6. It had three power strokes per crankshaft revolution, like a six-cylinder four-stroke engine.
Auto-union advertising said,
"drei Kraftimpulse pro Kurbelwellen-Umdrehung, genau wie beim Sechszylinder-Viertakter."

I translate: three Powerimpulses per crankshaft-rotation, exactly how by a Sixcylinder-Fourstroker

The engine drove a 3-speed gearbox, controlled by a column mounted lever and a free-wheeling device. It put out 38 bhp @ 4250 rpm and 71.1 Newton-metres of torque @ 3000 rpm.
Wheels and tires were 5.60-15 like our Ambassador car.
