re: Interesting International Websites and Links On Automobiles!

Here is a different Ambassador car. Its a 1967 Ambassador , a brand name used by the now defunct American Motors. They lately owned the Jeep brand which they bought from Kaiser Corpn.Chrysler Motors ultimately bought over American Motors.
The only similarity I find between our Amby and this one are the digits and partly colour (gray and dark gray) scheme on the older Amby SMITHS speedo. But otherwise this convertible is simply gorgeous!

This one is crazy. We have heard that Beijing is flooded with cars and cars. And to restrict the number of drivers getting licences, the Beijing traffic authorities have devised a stringent test and also some lottery kind of system. this website offers a sneak peek into what the questionnaire will be like for people seeking licences:

re: Interesting International Websites and Links On Automobiles!

Must have heard about the Chrysler Imperial, the flagship model of Chrysler Motors. The Imperial was brought back by Lee Iacocca in the early 1980's, when he as Chairman steered Chrysler back to good financial health. The sales of the Imperial were excellent in 1981 and petered out a few years later. The Imperial priced at around $ 19000, was above many models in the Cadillac range, then. It was packed with goodies and also electronic displays on the dash.Thats 29 years back!
This link tells about an original 1981 Imperial still with the Meyes family and with 15000 on its odo and with ---- Come on what?? Original tyres and also original paint.. Unbelievable!!
The red leather upholstery on the featured car is still so pristine. Please go to the link that I personally had a lovely time going through.

Four German tourists who were visiting flood ravaged Queensland State , Australia ignored warning signs and drove through a flooded river infested with crocodiles.
Their SUV got stranded midway and they had to be rescued by the police.
This is the link that illustrates the height of stupidity on display with an automobile:

Its good news that the Big Three of Detriot are back on their feet again. With the US economy showing signs of a steady recovery new car sales are on a high and the three car makers from the US never had it so good during the past three years. After all, the Big Three are the barometer to prove that the world's economy is on track. Hope GM will soon shed its acquired tag Government Motors.

re: Interesting International Websites and Links On Automobiles!

This one is hilarious. Its about a boyfriend buying an old 1996 Jeep Cherokee for $ 3000 and ending up paying more than the cost price to make the thing fit. He now comes under fire from his girlfriend.
The advice sought on Jeep Forum by the girlfriend gets a good dose by a 57 year old Californian. This is hilarious reading!

Daimler AG, Germany ties up with Toray Industries, Japan to manufacture carbon fibre reinforced plastics (CFRP). This is aimed at reducing the Merc car's kerb weight, looking at the more stringent 2012 Euro emission norms.

Thats a BMW M3 that has crashed.Late last night (24/01/2011 US Eastern Standard Time) a West Palm Beach (Florida) man lost control of his BMW M3 in a curve. The car turned clockwise, jumped the median and struck a tree sideways, splitting the car in half. Here's the deadly result.

re: Interesting International Websites and Links On Automobiles!

President Obama in his State of the Union (2011)address has referred to plug in cars that run on the grid power.
There will be an Income Tax refund of $7500 within weeks to such car owners when they file their tax returns. But during certain months of the year the refunds may take longer to come by as the tax return filing schedules are well defined.

There's a more interesting thing happening in our neighbourhood. And we should be aware of what's going on inside the neighbour's territory. As a measure to clampdown the price hikes being resorted to by local manufacturers (God knows how many are there apart from Suzuki??)the Pakistan Govt has decided to allow import of second hand cars. The local car makers are Atlas Honda, Toyota Indus, Pak Suzuki and Dewan Hyundai Motors.
