Re: 2012 F1 - Hungaroring GP, Budapest

The Mercedes team simply remind me of the BMWs in the mid 2000s. Over commiting and under delivering!

It will be a long race tomorrow, the Lotus cars will be a real threat to the Mclarens if Sunday is as warm as today. Qualy Vs Race setup will have a greater impact in Hungary, I am hoping Lewis is not going to run away with the win tomorrow

Re: 2012 F1 - Hungaroring GP, Budapest

It's ridiculous to see that star espn skip every time there is some other live sport. Anyway, its very disappointing to see Michael at 17th place. If it's going to be a wet race - qualifying positions may not be that important. Hoping for a great race!

Oh btw, there is no HD telecast.. :-(

Re: 2012 F1 - Hungaroring GP, Budapest

The cars don't seem to be specially set up for a wet race. There was no indication of that in any of their post race qualifying.

Given that the overall pace of the W03 this season has already deteriorated to over .5 to .6 of a second off the pacesetting teams, it would be rather foolish to bank on a complete wet race setup for qualifying.

This is one team that has simply not delivered on anything they promised. Rather shockingly to most fans around the world who are active online... the lack of updates or major aero changes to the W03 has left everyone wondering what development Mercedes is chasing on tyres. They went on harping about understanding tyres etc with RB using his famous "conundrum" language to describe their efforts... it has yielded them zilch over the last 9 races.

In contrast, Sauber, Lotus, Williams & even Vijay Mallya's lovely Force India have managed to improve their pace! if not at least bring major updates to their cars. At Mercedes however.. the only visible changes came at 1 improvement to the sidepod shapes and revised exhaust positioning followed by upteen tweaks to the front wing. Thats about it. The DDRS as ingenious as it might have been, has little practical use in race conditions simply because the car chews it's tyres faster than any gimmick system can compensate, not to mention DDRS is worthless in the race unless DRS is used. Qualifying pace is again overwhelmed by operating temperatures and the narrow window in which the W03 can squeeze the pace from the PZeros

Hamilton always has this trouble of finishing starting from the Top, wish tomorrow will be a different game altogether

The weather conditions predict RAINS so dont rule out the Mercedes car with the Red Helmet. I am sincerely hoping, it will rain just as enough to have an exciting full F1 race.

Hamilton has to keep his cool. But looking at his timing i really doubt anyone can come close to him tomorrow.
Afterall he's the new "Master of the Wet"

Re: 2012 F1 - Hungaroring GP, Budapest

Hamilton, the new Master of the wet!?

Even Jenson Button qualified better than him in a wet German GP!

The Master of the wet is always Michael, look at his qualifying position in the wet with that pathetic Mercedes car!

The one who crashed in both weekends wet practice sessions? He WAS the Reinmaster. now its more about the car, ride height and tires.

Mega pace from Lewis. The battle for 2nd place will be interesting.
The earlier weather forecast had predicted thundershowers... hope they are right!

Am hooking up my Samsung 40" to the PC and streaming live.

Shame that they cant spare 1.5 hrs out of the Olympics telecast for F1

Point to ponder: No grid positions or points given in free practice and its called free practice for obvious reasons. Its ok to crash

You'd rather crash in practice while exploring the limits than in the race no?

Heavy rain in Budapest at the moment! Some rain was expected in the afternoon though, but the rain has come in earlier than expected

Re: 2012 F1 - Hungaroring GP, Budapest

In what is usually a dull race, things could get exciting if it pours in Hungary. Either way, Hamilton will go for broke. That DNF in the last race cost him dearly, so he will look to use the new-found pace of his MacLaren to run away into a lead. Hero or zero for Lewis, there seems to be no middle ground.

In the changing conditions, one can never rule out the trio of Alonso, Vettel and Raikkonen. Schumacher is just too far down the grid to challenge the front runners, in the event of rain.

No rain = watch Olympics.
