Re: 2012 F1 - Hungaroring GP, Budapest

Drama before the start! Schumacher looks quite jinxed. Cars are doing another formation lap as his car stopped. He is now starting from the pit lane. Quite a bad start indeed.

Edit: To add-on the trouble, he is now being investigated for speeding in the pit-lane

Re: 2012 F1 - Hungaroring GP, Budapest

Lotus is looking real good.

And very hot conditions.

Edit: And Lotus bottled it in Pits.

Re: 2012 F1 - Hungaroring GP, Budapest

This could be termed as a boring race, but I liked it for the way maturity shown by Lewis for a well-composed run from start to finish.

The highlight for me was fantastic move from Kimi jump to in front of Romain Grosjean after the pitstop. Fantastic drive by the Iceman, and good show by Team Lotus!

Re: 2012 F1 - Hungaroring GP, Budapest

Fantastic win for Lewis!!
Amazing!
And....finally, again!

But i wanna know what happened to grosjean?
Post that pit stop overtake, and the almost-impact with kimi, he seemed completely off.
almost as if someone pulled what ferrari did to barrichello some years ago....

Re: 2012 F1 - Hungaroring GP, Budapest

Kimi was amazing today. Those laps he dialed in before his last pit stop to get past Grosjean was tremendous. Hearing all nice rumors from Maranello.

But Lewis controlled it well to take the win.

Now, the month long wait for the highlight of the season.

Re: 2012 F1 - Hungaroring GP, Budapest

Great drive by the Iceman to storm into 2nd. H was facing DRS issues, apparently he forgot to recharge the batteries after the formation lap and so was driving with a half charged battery or something. But McLaren just had too much hp to overtake.

Grosjean just looked like he lost his spirit once Kimi sided him; still a strong 3rd.

Hats off to Vettel, urging his team to find a better play and almost paying off; just a second off Romain at the end and the fastest lap of the race; he was dominating!

Amazing drive from Kimi!! At the start he lost 5th position to Alonso but due to brilliant driving by setting fastest laps while he was first, and the superbly timed pit getting him ahead of Grosjean secured a well deserved 2nd place for the Finn. I thought he might have a chance to overtake Lewis when he was just 0.5seconds behind, but apparently he had an ailing KERS unit and was running on 50% only. Lotus do look a very good well rounded team. Mclaren is now just one point ahead of Lotus in the constructors championship and both of them are ahead of Ferrari!
Lewis to pit crew: "Those Lotus guys are really fast"

I wonder if Lewis will say that when Kimi starts winning! its looking more a case of when and not if

Kimi & Lewis were the drives of the race for me of the front-running cars.

Kimi was able to pile on the pressure and made the biggest jump from the start position. Lewis handled it cool under pressure which he's not done too often, so I suspect he had a it more in the bag. Mclaren could be faster than what they showed today.

The DRS + KERS somehow didn't spice up the show too much at Hungary. I was really thinking it'll be full of overtakes.

Re: 2012 F1 - Hungaroring GP, Budapest

Missed most of the race, only to catch last 20 laps.
When i left on lap 4, Kimi was behind Alonso so it must have been a mega drive from the Iceman. He is still looking for that elusive win, may be he is keeping the best for Spa.

Championship battle is getting interesting. Except Alonso the remaining 4 are within 8 points of each other and one good/bad race can change things completely.
McLaren, Lotus and Ferrari are within 4 points of each other, and are switching places every race. RedBull may have a good lead, but by no means, are they secure.

Re: 2012 F1 - Hungaroring GP, Budapest

Another 'we also ran' from SFI. They seem to have said that no more updates for this year, only fine tuning. Had thought that with additional funding from Sahara, they would do better. Looks almost certain that they are doomed to eighth place this year.
Maldonado's reputation finally did him in today
Relatively boring race except for Kimi jumping his team mate. Alonso increased his lead slightly, even though he finished only fifth.
Placido Domingo talking to the three on the podium after the race was a nice surprise.
