2012 F1 - SINGTEL Singapore Grand Prix

End of European Grand Prix, we move over to Singapore and its Night race at the Marina Bay Street Circuit. The circuit itself is Spectacular, Its always exciting to watch Daylight being simulated at night, it adds a new dimension to Formula 1 racing.

Going a bit off-topic. Everytime i think of Singapore GP, i always wonder, what happens if there is a Power failure during the race, what a pile-up

Getting back to the topic, a circuit with High Downforce, must suit RBR and Ferrari, and with the new exhaust upgrades on the Mercedes, its best seen who's made any developments, as been discussed over testing upgrades.

I think this is gonna be a boring race. Very few overtaking opportunities.

Who were last 3 winners ?

It's a boring circuit. After Monza, it would look even more boring.

Winners -
Barichello - 2009
Alonso - 2010
Vettel - 2011

A bit of correction there:
2008 - Alonso, Renault
2009 - Hamilton, McLaren
2010 - Alonso, Ferrari
2011 - Vettel, Red Bull

What a spectacle for F1!
Interesting that the entire Paddock still follows European time.. which means drivers actually hit the sack at 5am local time, wake up early afternoon and then head to the track.

Strategy should be key, choosing between a 2 stop (standard) or 3 (aggressive). The only thing predictable is the appearance of the safety car!

I dont see Ferrari being too strong here, Mclaren vs Red Bull it should be, with Lotus in the mix. Mercedes are bringing a whole range of updates which may take a while to dial in.

Rain is predicted for Sunday which will spice things up further, if so, would this be the first wet race at Singapore?

A 2 stop for the leaders possibly ?? McLaren will qualify well. Have to see what is the upgrade from Mercedes and if that is going to help them with race trim.

Rain during the race is something I don't want to see as water and light just don't gel well.

Re: 2012 F1 - SINGTEL Singapore Grand Prix

Really like watching the Singapore GP, the night race thing really gets me.

My money on the McLaren boys, the car is in great shape; until it breaks down.
Also, expecting a stunner from Grosjean and another podium for Kimi. Go Lotus!

Singapore is a car breaker. Hope we don't lose any fast cars to reliability issues.

Lotus has to bring in a better result here. It is their moment of reckoning in the championship.

Read Merc' Coanda-effect exhausts helps low speed traction. Hope it works as intended.

Mark’ helmet for Singapore.

It rained pretty hard here this evening. Interesting to see if this happen on the weekend as well.

Singapore should be quite a challenge for the season's crash boy (Maldonado)

Hi Arun,
Wassup?
It's not just them, Vettel has got a new one too and a cool one with LEDs fitted to it. It will be much cooler if its powered by solar cells and brightens up when his Kers is on!!

Singapore would be the right place for Vettel to bring this helmet with light back

Re: 2012 F1 - SINGTEL Singapore Grand Prix

Am hoping for rain. The Red Bulls and Mclarens are very quick. Alonso's lead will be reduced considerably. Atleast Ferrari are 3rd quickest.

Today I went to FP2. This is my first F1 experience. F1 engine sound is just astonishing. Because of the tall building there was boombox effect also. Really enjoyed today's night. Environment around clarke quay is just awesome.
