Re: 2012 F1 - Indian Grand Prix -Buddh International Circuit

Qualifying results: Vettel to start from pole followed by Webber and Hamilton. Alonso will start from 5th and I guess he'll have to come up with something extra ordinary tomorrow to keep his title chances in tact.

Looks like Red Bull are going to run away with everything as they did last year.
A pity!
Doesn't look as if any of the championships will go down to the wire. Red Bull has too much momentum now.

You're tellingme.
I hate Ferrari to the bone, and am a die hard McLaren bhakt. So there was some emotion attached, some pedigree, when we won orlost to them, but am so indifferent in emotion to the red bull, it's making the races boring.

Mind games or bemused?

What ever it maybe, Alonso needs to get a great start tomorrow, the first lap will be crucial.

Taking that flag off the F2012 will help the weight. Literally and otherwise.

I don't like Ferrari (the team) either, but I will root for anyone against Vettel. especially a hard worker like Alonso. Lewis kicking Vettel's @** would be greatly entertaining too.

In fact, anybody is fine, just please, somebody besides this guy. That smug smile on his face is getting really annoying. I can't even understand how Webber must feel being a senior.

Let's just hope Grosjean bulldozes everybody in the first corner or Alonso/Hamilton really bring their A game.

If Grosjean can bulldoze the pole sitter in the first corner starting from P11, then he needs something much better than the Lotus.

I somehow want Kimi to win at least one race this season, considering how consistent he was throughout the season but with the current performance of the Lotus, I doubt unless others in the front helps. I wouldn't rule out the possibility since the grip levels in the track could see some off roading or flatspotting moves which could eventually play spoilsport to the tyre and pit strategies.

But is this all really helpful to anybody after a little into the race? I mean after the first few laps won't the entire race be all about Lewis VS Vettel Vs Webber with everybody else seconds behind?

As much as I hate to say it I think the race has ended even before it has started.

In fact I'm only watching this race for three reasons:
1) Lewis
2) Alonso
3) A little irrelevant..but to see Mallya being pestered by the media mob midst the KFA drama .

By the way, what kind of ace could possibly be up Alonso's sleeve for him to say he will win the title.

Re: 2012 F1 - Indian Grand Prix -Buddh International Circuit

Alonso does have a good chance of winning the title seeing that even in an inferior car, he is still up with Vettel and is just 6 points away and that too because of a dramatic incident in the Japanese GP ! But unless Ferrari can help with some goodies for their car, it will be tough, even if he does not win here and Vettel does, he at least needs to finish second to keep his chances alive ! Who knows, Vettel can have an incident too !

For all the McLaren fans out there, here are some sneak pics from the Qualifying race day (taken by my wife, who has access to the McLaren Paddock Club, Garage and the pit Lane!), Unfortunately though I could not be there this time.

Re: 2012 F1 - Indian Grand Prix -Buddh International Circuit

Vettel and Alonso had 2 retirements each in 2012, so I don't think Vettel got any undue advantage due to Alonso's retirement.

During the European GP, Vettel was leading the race till he retired and hence Alonso actually gained 7 extra points in addition to the 25 he got for the win as he would not have overtaken Vettel without the retirement. So its actually 32 points advantage that Alonso got in Valencia over Vettel.

Vettel was on Pole and ahead of Alonso in Japan and it was unlikely that Alonso would have beaten Vettel, had he continued in the race. Assuming Alonso would have finished second without the first lap incident, its just 18 points advantage that Vettel got from Japan.

The first lap incident during the Japaneese GP was just another racing incident, else the stewards would have penalized Kimi. Trying to push a driver to the edge of the track and then braking suddenly doesn't sound like a valid ground to put the blame on Kimi, as was done post race by Luca and Alonso. We've got Kimi starting behind Alonso again this weekend, lets see how it shapes up.

Re: 2012 F1 - Indian Grand Prix -Buddh International Circuit

Is it just me or did the entire city of Delhi turn up for the event?

This has easily got to be the most filled F1 event of the year so far? There are just so many people.

This track makes the vacancy at Yeongam look like a joke. I imagine they would be making a killing on this event?!

Re: 2012 F1 - Indian Grand Prix -Buddh International Circuit

Based on sheer number of incidents happening, this has got to be the most action packed race of this season.
