Re: 2013 F1 - Bahrain Grand Prix

Well done Vettel! Superb first few laps from the champion. With Rosberg suffering huge degradation, Vettel would've passed him soon anyway, but he didn't want to wait for Rosberg's tires to go away. Even more impressive was his overtake on Alonso on Lap 1.

Kimi lost 1-2 positions in the first few laps, but thereafter had a pretty straightforward race. Good job making the tires last for a 2-stopper. Vettel was too far away yesterday, so 2nd is the best he could've done.

Must be a huge relief for Grosjean to finish on the podium after an ordinary start to the season. Hope he has really turned a corner with his setups and this wasn't just a flash in the pan.

Hamilton had a good race, especially towards the end. Webber had a bit of an off-day yesterday. Massa, unlucky to have two tire blow-outs. He didn't seem very fast either. Jenson/Perez battle was fun to watch.

Alonso could possibly have challenged Vettel without his DRS problem. Last year his season season began well by taking big points during the fly-away races. That helped him stay in touch in the WDC battle till the last few laps of Brazil 2012. This year he is 30 points behind Vettel after 4 races. Not a great start to the season.

Re: 2013 F1 - Bahrain Grand Prix

A really entertaining race, except for the first position the fight for other places were swinging back and forth.

Kimi could have challenged Vettel, if he had a better start and ran a shorter first stint and a slightly longer second stint. But that was an amazing race by Kimi and PDR, to make the top 4 with just 2 stops.

Really hoped for a podium for FI, but a great race nevertheless.

Re: 2013 F1 - Bahrain Grand Prix

Oh! It was a big disappointment to watch the race as a Ferrari fan. I really thought the 2 Ferrari boys were destined for the podium with one on the top step. It is so tough especially when the car is good. To put in perspective, it was all a bonus last year.

Well done Vettel! Alonso did well to finish with some points after all that happened. But it is not going to enough at all. Ferrari will now need some back to back wins now to pull the season back.

Autosport reveals the DRS issue was not due to the actuator. The flap opens with the help of an actuator in the rear wing. But it closes back on its own with the flow of air when the hydraulic pressure is released. The problem happened because the flap over-extended and it was unable to return to closing position on its own. The flap opened too far, the airflow caught under the flap and flipped it over-centre to prevent the flap from closing as it would usually do.
