Montoya to leave F1 for NASCAR not in 2007 but NOW!

hot off the press..
didnt like him too much.. too many mistakes.. too many racing 'incidents'
but will miss him a bit tho..
( we do share a common dislike to shumi )

That's a shocking news for some! (Including me)

But I think, He was not realy doing well in F1 these days. As told earlier, too many incidents. And last year, Mclaren lost the championship due to these incidents.

But he had speed and his ability to drive fast (very fast indeed) was proven in 2003/2004 season when he used to pocket Poll positions one after other. But he was'nt very succesful in completing those races in podium.

How sad! Mclaren could'nt actually utilise him to the max!
They should be happy now as Alonso can come into the driving seat of Mclaren comfortably!

Kimi's shift is yet not been confirmed.
So, What do we expect next year?
1-2 from Mclaren all the way! With Alonso leading most of the time!!

There are quite a few fans of Villneuve in Canada and the US who will be happy to see him in NASCAR. as for Montoya, he is struggling really bad. McLaren dont want him and no other team is offering him a seat. tough luck for the kid.

Well Thats the end of F1 for One Problem Montoya- " I'm tough, i got B alls, i gonna show them all" The crazy hype with which he and his supporters came into F1 remained just that.

A stunnigly talented driver, i liked the fact that he was tough, but he was just soooo brainless. Too many of his trademark "awesome moves" depended on the others drivers giving way.
With newer and newer drivers in, people stopped moving over, and the crashes started- not to mention his seld inflicted crashes....

Pity, potential completely unfulfilled.

Couldn't have said it any better that Revvhead! F1 and JPM were just never going to gel.

The rough driving style and easy going nature of Nascar is sure to fit in well with JPM. Though I can't help but think that even Monty would not be too happy with the switch.

It is a good thing Montoya is going away from F1. Infact I feel that McLaren should dump him now and use Pedro for the remaining races... he might drive better than Montoya and won't blame others or the car for some silly mistakes.
It is now increasingly likey that Kimi will drive for Renault next year... and that poor kid deserves a good car to win! Hope McLaren can also up their game and put on a good show next year.
So who is gonna partner Alonso..... Hamilton, seems to be the obvious answer?

Good for him. Instead of existing in F1, he can try ruling Nascar (since it's all about having b*lls and being tough).

surely he is an aggressive driver but not consistent though. his overtaking move in brazil over schumi was amazing. but in F1 i guess luck plays equal role to ur skills.

One move does not a career make......
Big deal that particular move, a horsepower move down the straight, the williams was waaay up on grunt then.

Here's a clip of what montoya was more about- instead of concentrating on racing hard and straight, he spent too much time bothering about his rivals.
Now in this clip he shows the spatial awareness and quick relfelxes and cool head of an F1 champ.

It does seem obvoius. but i have a feeling that Ron Dennis is gonna hold him out for atleast another season. He is still quite inexperienced with an F1 car and i'm pretty sure McLaren wouldn't want a Yuji Ide situation here.

What will happen if Kimi goes to renault??
Alonso will retire more and Kimi will win more! Alonso will get more fans still (Me included).

What will happen if both drive for Mclaren?
They'll win some and retire some. Somebody else will take the championship. Still, the fanbase of Mclaren will grow.

Mc Laren shouldnt have a problem having Kimi and Alonso in the same team. bt cant say the same for Kimi. His manager is already seat-hunting in the paddocks. No matter wht, I shall continue to remain a McLaren supporter. Welcome to the family, speedzak.

The official story is in on Montoya: http://www.formula1.com/news/4608.html
