Hotstar not streaming F1 in 2023 | Where to watch Formula 1?

Are the F1 Races not going to be streamed on Hotstar this year? Read on a Website that Hotstar have not renewed the Contract to stream F1 Races. That will be a bummer, if true. Also came across a news article stating F1 TV is now available for Indian Users, but the prices are a bit steep. What are the options available to watch F1 Races this year? As always, i will be cheering for my man FA 14, the Spanish Samurai.

At the moment there doesn’t seem to be any option to watch F1 in India except through F1 TV or the Star Sports channel on Tata Sky or similar platforms. For those who have cut the cord it’s going to be troublesome. Disney+ Hotstar haven’t confirmed anything so it’s likely they may not have taken broadcast rights. It’s INR 2999 for a year on F1 TV with a lower plan available which is useless as such because you can’t watch the live telecast.

If there is no option, will have to bite the bullet and buy the F1 TV plan. At least they are offering a lot more besides the race for the money they are charging.

Cheers

Re: Formula 1 : 2023 Season

Shoot a email to general@en.formula1.com and complain about the price. We have highest price among developing countries. In some South American countries it costs like $10 a year.

The more the people complain the faster they would change the price.

It won't be shown in any channels in India this year. So only option as of this time is F1 TV and its quite expensive.

I would suggest subscribing to F1TV pro on a monthly basis from March to December. You end up saving around Rs. 600-900 depending on whether you want to watch pre-season testing or not. Source for the calculations: F1india.meme on Instagram

Another option you have is to wait for pre-season testing to get over and see if F1 gives any subscription offers. They did offer a discount last year for 20% after Pre-Season testing. This is applicable to all new accounts only though.
Any one interested in watching the races in groups can also pool in money and watch the races together. if I'm not wrong 6 devices can be used to log into 1 account but the live telecast can be streamed only through 1 device at a time.

Thank you Rahul!

After your post I downloaded the application on my Apple TV which shows INR 249 per month for the Pro content. If watching races is what’s important then taking the monthly plan from March to November 2023 (last race Abu Dhabi is on 26th November) would be the way to go, 249 X 9 months = 2241.

Since the first race is on 5th March shall wait and see before subscribing to anything.

Cheers

Re: Formula 1 : 2023 Season

Hotstar was amazing and probably killed off the piracy streams revenue. 3k a year will just push people back to shady streams.

Does anyone know if F1 tv allows multiple streams. The only way this catches on if there’s 3 or 4 streams allowed and people pool in.

Not on Hotstar?? Are you sure?
Im a F1 TV subscriber for live timing for years.

F1 TV surely is additional, not replacing Hotstar!?

No hotstar, no broadcast on any sports channnels in India either. Only way to watch is F1 TV pro for live race video and F1 TV for delayed replay after 2 day.

Other issue with the F1 TV app is that it is not available for download on any of my Smart TVs.
Casting is never smooth. This is painful after paying the $23.99 annual fee.

How are all of you planning to watch?

Sometimes its updated as $23.99 and in app its updated as Rs. 2499. That is not a logical conversion.

I bought it for $23.99 on F1 TV website. App was showing Rs. 3000. I was charged Rs. 1985 on card after conversion.

I thought F1 TV had an official Android TV app. Haven't checked yet. Will update. I'll probably be watching it on mobile/laptop as race time always conflict with parents' TV time.

Just got it for ₹2069. Seems that it differs from bank to bank, but still less than the 3K

This is from the terms and conditions -

"6.2 You may only access the Services on up to a maximum of 6 devices with only 1 of those devices permitted to stream content at any one time."

Re: Hotstar not streaming F1 in 2023 | Where to watch Formula 1?

I'd renewed Hotstar subscription recently just for F1

For those unhappy with the price, here's something that might cheer you up if you are a nerd. With F1 TV Pro subscription, you can watch F1 on Multiviewer.

It's an unofficial viewing app for F1 that you can download for free. You have to login using your F1 TV Pro credentials to watch multiple driver on boards, live timing and telemetry data, etc. Probably one of the best ways to watch F1.

FYI - You need high RAM to watch multiple streams.

Some user images of the Multiviewer app -

Since F1 TV Pro has launched in India, this should work as well. Tried watching the last year's race on this and worked well. Need to see how it works on live stream now.
