F1 - Hungarian GP - 2009

Starting a thread for the Hungarian GP.

Heard that Massa had a huge accident during qualifying & that he was rendered unconscious !

Any updates on his condition ?

P.S. - Not a good start for Ferrari !

Massa is OK, but not sure if he will be allowed to race.

P1: Alonso
P2: Vettel
P3: Webber
Timings went blank towards then end so no one was sure about the grid positions.

Button is P8, Barichello is out of top 10, so Redbulls have good chance of catching the Brawns in the points table big time

Massa safe after debris triggers high-speed crash

Massa safe after debris triggers high-speed crash – Thank GOD!

That was a loose suspension from Rubens

That was a nasty stuff. If it had his chest or visor then?

Said that, I can’t stop laughing. Between Q3 in qualifying suddenly the time display went off and after qualifying when the cars parked in pit lane Alonso was walking here and there and asking all drivers “mine was 1.21.569 what’s yours”. For about 10 mins nobody know who came first or what’s was their position…

Its good to know that Massa escaped uninjured after that crash. he was hit on the chin by a piece of Brrawn GP suspension and Massa was atleast doing 200 kph at that time. I hope he recovers and races tomorrow.

It was hillarious watching the drivers asking each other their timings. One could clearly hear " Hey mate what time did you do? "

Alsonso has done a great job by getting onto pole after a long time. It should do his confidence a whole lot of good. Where is Kimi by the way?

Can Massa make it to race tomorrow?

Can Massa make it to race tomorrow?

Barrichello visited Massa in the medical centre. "He was very agitated," Barrichello told the Daily Telegraph.

"He had a cut in his head, which could have been from the part of my car that was on the track. He was talking, was conscious, but they have to analyse the cut. He was moving his arms and legs, they had to make him sleep because he was agitated."

Praying and wishing him good luck to get well soon.

Massa will not race tomorrow, confirmed by Ferrari. Hoping he recovers quickly before next race.

Alonso is going to be lighter than the rest, at best he can do is score a podium. This is Redbull's race to lose.

Don't discount Lewis either, if his start is good with KERS, he can end up P2 or even P1 by turn 1. This promises to be a good race.

Kimi is 7th, did well to qualify ahead of the Brawns this time.

Ferrari website says Massa has had a brain concussion, a cut on his forehead & bone damage of his skull. He needs to be operated upon & will thereafter be shifted to ICU. Read it here.

Felipe Massa's conditions

Kimi had a great run in Q3 before his final run but had a sideways moment & that spoilt everything. He was nearly 0.4 of a second quicker than the best lap time before that happened.

Wow! I am missing most of the action here at F1!
Haven't been following much as Ferrari is not on top!
Feel bad about Massa though. Hope he recovers soon. Somebody please post a video of the crash please.

OT was just watching videos of the good old days of F1. I saw the video of the best overtaking ever in F1. Mika overtaking Michael in spa in 2000.

cut to todays scenario, good to know Massa is stable but alas he won't be racing tomorrow. one car less on the grid eh.

I wish Sutil does some magic and get some beers for kingfisher ..err force india.

For some reason, Force India and F1, points are eluding.

Every team is gearing up in a big way and are showing results off late, but Force India.

I really wish them some goood luck, thats what they want.

Every time they see some big points coming, you see Raikonnen denting their dreams

Seems like Mclaren are recovering. Both cars in the top ten. Hope they can turn that into a podium finish.

I switch on the telly at 6.20 to see Massa's crash. The thing that hit him looked like a small spring and to hit his helmet of all things! . It knocked him out and he went straight into the barriers at 200kph!

Well, guess what he did at the last race?
I'm sure he's learning from every race.

I just said he may end up P1 by turn 1, after that it's anybody's guess

It is really sad and terrible accident that Massa had in the qualifying. Hope he recovers real quick and is able to race again.

I was watching the qualifying and saw the accident happen including the replays and all the drivers who were not in contention in the Q3 rushing to the medical center. The piece of debry flew into his face real fast, and most of the people did not realize that it hit Massa on his crashguard until a few times the replay was played. The debry was suppose to be part of the rear suspensions from Rubens car and until he went and told about some part of his car breaking away, no one even thought of this possiblity.

Well, Get well soon, Massa.
