Ya FTX is really massive and has those killer looks. As you know the TOP 3 or the BIG 3 of the american markets are strong in the truck segment . recently Toyota grabbed the second place from Ford. The future in US market is for SUVs and Trucks . SO Toyota is all set have a new platform other than Tacoma and other truck lines. the interiors of this vehicle is OUT OF WORLD .

Yes the Kijang that you see in the picture is far far better and balanced . But that is the latest version of KIjang. I hope Toyota replaces the existiing box with this model atleast . Tavera has that adventurous and sporty look .But if you go with your family and select a car , you will end up in buying a Kijang

This is the normal size of the LX470 if it is longer than this it may be a modification but if it was wider then that cannot be possible as it is difficult to make it wider.

FORD TO USE TOYOTA HYBRID SYSTEM TECHNOLOGY

Tokyo: Toyota Motor Corporation said on Tuesday that Ford Motor Co would
use some of its hybrid engine technology, in a pact that underlines the
Japanese auto giant’s strong lead in eco-friendly gasoline-electric
know-how.

Toyota, which recently overtook Ford to become the world’s second-largest
auto maker, is keen to see the overall market for hybrids grow while
promoting its technology and expanding its hybrid lineup.

It has said it might supply hybrids to other auto makers as part of its
goal to produce 300,000 of the eco-friendly vehicles a year by the middle
of the decade.

Under the agreement, Toyota’s patents on gasoline-electric hybrid engine
system control and emission purification have been licensed for use in
Ford’s own hybrid system, which is under development.

“Toyota’s move with Ford today puts them one step closer towards achieving
critical mass for their hybrid technology as well as enhanced prospects for
meaningful profitability for the technology.

Toyota made its name as world leader in hybrid technology in 1997 when it
launched the Prius sedan, the first mass-produced vehicle to combine a
battery-powered motor and a gasoline engine, significantly reducing
emissions.

The auto giant went on to sign a much broader hybrid system licensing
agreement with domestic rival Nissan Motor Co in 2002. Honda Motor Co is
the only other auto maker to mass-market hybrid vehicles, and Ford is the
only US auto maker with plans to launch a true hybrid this year* the Escape
sports utility vehicle. Ford said its hybrid system would feature more than
100 unique patents. Purists have long questioned the US auto maker’s hybrid
engine prowess after Ford reached an agreement in 2001 with Aisin AW, a
Toyota-affiliated car parts maker, to supply Ford with key components for
the Escape hybrid, which was first planned for 2003.

Toyota plans to roll out at least two new gasoline-engine hybrids in the US
market this year, including the world’s first luxury hybrid, the RX400h
sports utility vehicle.
It is also considering a hybrid version of a new pickup truck. Toyota has
sold more than 200,000 hybrid vehicles to date and says its hybrids are
profitable.

Honda says it barely makes a profit while Ford concedes the Escape will
sell at a loss. Toyota’s share price ended up 0.51 percent at 3,950 yen, on
Tuesday, outperforming a 0.25 percent rise in the benchmark Nikkei average
US automakers, notably General Motors Corp, have been vocal in questioning
the merits of hybrid cars. They have worked more aggressively to advance
zero-emission hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, which are widely believed to be
at least 10 to 15 years away from being commercially viable.

Toyota Hybrid

Toyota Hybrid car are becomeing slowly popular and recently ford and Nissan has decided to buy the technology from Toyota.

Just few bits and Bytes from the Technology .

Advance control system
Prius has an Advanced Control System (ACS) that monitors and controls the engine, generator, electric motor and battery pack. The ECU acts as a sophisticated control center that makes important decisions like: whether to have the engine on or off, whether to have the generator charge the battery or whether to have the motor drive the wheels or store energy during braking. It's like having an efficiency expert onboard at all times.

Battery
Prius' compact lightweight battery pack is comprised of 38 sealed Nickel-Metal Hydride modules. It is designed to be charged tens of thousands of times without an external power source. For matters of safety, it is completely sealed in a carbon composite case and positioned behind the rear seat within the protective unibody of the car. It is also a safer alternative to lead-acid batteries because it is essentially inert, non-flammable and non-caustic.

Braking
Why not recapture some of the energy lost while coasting, slowing down or coming to a stop? That's just what Prius does. When the driver does any one of these three things, the system turns the motor into a generator. The energy of the wheels produces electricity, which is then stored in the batteries. It's all quite simple·nd yet ingenious.

The Engine
Its 1.5-liter DOHC 16-valve 4-cylinder engine features Variable Valve Timing with intelligence. VVT-i improves mid-range torque for highway passing, maximizes fuel economy and lessens emissions.

The Motor
The upside is immediately obvious. Compared to a Prius without a motor, the motor provides Prius a greater driving range with better energy conservation and lower emissions. A win, win, win situation. It produces its maximum of 40 horsepower from 1,040 to 5,000 rpm and a maximum 225 lb.-ft. of torque from 0 to 400 rpm. That's 16 lb.-ft. of torque more than the Camry V6 generates at its peak of 4,400 rpm.

52 mpg city*
45 mpg highway*
48 mpg combined*

Prius gets better mileage in city driving. Yes, it gets exceptional highway mileage too, but it also gets jaw-dropping city mpg numbers. And when you consider your average daily commute, you'll understand why we say, "Prius: Hybrid technology for the real world." For more information on how Prius accomplishes this, visit the Hybrid Technology section. And remember, as with all cars, the EPA mileage numbers listed are estimates and are dependent on the driver's habits.

Parking :
Prius also has a automatic reverse parking system as the blindspot is too much

This is the 2005 Tacoma X-Runner pickup truck

The Tacoma X-Runner's wheelbase is five inches longer and its track is four inches wider than the previous Tacoma S-Runner.

Frame and Chassis
X-Runner will ride on an exclusive X-braced reinforced frame that provides enhanced torsional rigidity.

The X-Runner chassis will sit one-full-inch lower than the standard Tacoma frame, and rest on 18-inch 45-series V-rated performance radials and alloy wheels.

A limited-slip differential will be standard.

Powertrain Details

Four-liter, 240 horsepower V6 engine with 275 pounds of torque and a six-speed close-ratio manual transmission.
An optional supercharger system will be offered, capable of providing output in the neighborhood of 300 horsepower. The Tacoma X-Runner will be capable of zero-to-60 acceleration in seven seconds, with times reduced by more-than an additional second with the optional supercharger system.

Truck Handling

During testing, the X-Runner's road-holding ability was measured by an electronic accelerometer in excess of 0.9 g's of lateral acceleration, which is better than other trucks on the market. The manufacturer says it performed better than many sports cars, including the new Nissan 350-Z.

The X-Runner's four-door Access-cab design incorporates full-vehicle-surround ground effects, a hood scoop and integrated fog lamps. It will be available in a limited number of colors.

Safety Features

The X-Runner will also include a wide array of safety features such as standard Anti-Lock Brakes, and optional side-curtain airbags and electronic vehicle stability control.
