Re: My Ambassador

Dear all,
Last week the steering box bed (Metal) was broken. The steering wheel has given me the sound and vibrations before 15 days,But i didnt check, since i had a lot of short trips in the car.

The weld work (electric) will only take 30 minutes maximum,But the problem in Amby is,without getting the engine and gear box out, this job will not be perfect.I thought for a while and took my car back home.

I thought this is the perfect time for tinkering and paint work.Next year 2012 will be FC for my car.So mid of September,I will start the process.

Planning for :
1.Tinkering (Not too many patches).
2.Painting (DuPont White).
3.Bucket Seats from Koyas (Currently am having Semi bucket).
4.Neat Wiring.
5.Lighting's.
6.Customized Console (Optional).

I have some designs and plans, but i need to check how my ideas will suit Ambassador.
Let me Update it very soon.

Re: My Ambassador

Hi guys,
Since i was help with work,I could not able to post the images of the work progress...I have gone through Mr.Rudhra's thread too for the current status of the remodelling work of his Amby.

Now a days there are not many guys ready to work for Amby.In coimbatore we are having many workshops for tinkering and painting. But PERFECTION is the main point which was missing from the guys around.
Anyway I got my regular Tinker assigned to this work.He told me,the PERFECTION which i am looking for will be guaranteed,But the only concern will be the TIME.

Here with I am attaching some images of the current status of the Project.
Before parking in Workshop,Car is Serviced completely.

Re: My Ambassador

Guys,
Thanks for your comments...

@SuperLeggera : White is the color which i have planned. But there are some work going on to choose which type of white.

Dupont white is the best looking than the metallic white. The painter need to put some extra effort for painting.Because there is no painting room in our regular carriage.I love the White in VW Vento and POLO..Its bit costly, but very nice.Let me update on this very soon.

Old dash board means,(Am not clear in whether you are saying about my old one or mark 2 type dash board)..I planned for customized one,but no where they are ready to do.If we pay also, there is very very less number of peoples who deal with customized dashboards.

@samsag12 : There is no full tinkering work. But small patches are taking more more time.Anyway I am only hoping for a clear design.

Mechanical works : Not much,
1.Steering Box bed bolt need to be fixed.
2.New Temperature meter and union fittings.

Re: My Ambassador

Hi Guys,
Yesterday I planned a short (1 - hour) discussion with the Electrician, Tinker.
I am not so sure about the current wiring set how it is.Electrician is clear that new set of wiring will be perfect.

I am planning for a custom console. So the wiring related stuffs will be in the console box as per my drawings.I am preferring clip type.So that it will be not that much problematic at the time when we work on gear box ,if there is any repair in future.

I will update the status soon with images.

Re: My Ambassador

Check with your electrician as what would be the cost difference between standard ready set wiring and Finolex cables. If you don't get good ready set option, I suggest ask him to use Finolex.

Re: My Ambassador

Good going Mahesh. Seems to be shaping up really well. Where in Coimbatore are you doing the works? I completely agree with you on the time. The problem for my Amby has been the delay by the Mechanic, the tinkering and painting was done in reasonable time, but the mech really played on my patience. I believe you would have seen that in my thread too.
